case closed and we will never have an answer FBI Closes Notorious B.I.G Investigation
LOS ANGELES (March 11) - The FBI has closed its investigation into the 1997 murder of rap star Notorious B.I.G., abandoning the theory that a rogue police officer may have been involved in the slaying. The case was closed after federal prosecutors reviewed the evidence and concluded there was no basis for prosecution, Louis J. Caprino Jr., acting head of the criminal division of the FBI's Los Angeles office, said in Friday's editions of the Los Angeles Times. Notorious B.I.G., whose real name was Christopher Wallace, was shot to death in March 1997 in front of hundreds of witnesses as he left a music industry party in Los Angeles. Investigators have pursued various theories, including one that the killing, and that of rap star Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas the year before, was the result of a feud between hip hop figures from the East and West coasts. Shakur was the biggest West Coast hip hop star of his time, and he regularly exchanged insults and threats with Notorious B.I.G., his East Coast counterpart. The FBI had also spent 18 months investigating the possibility that a rogue Los Angeles police officer working with rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight had orchestrated Notorious B.I.G.'s killing. Knight, whose Death Row Records was Shakur's label, has denied any involvement. Investigators had said the officer, David Mack, owned a car matching the description of one seen speeding from the murder scene. A witness had also placed him at the scene hours before the murder. However, other information gathered by investigators did not support the theory and detectives turned their attention elsewhere. Mack, who has since been imprisoned for robbing a bank, has denied any involvement in the killing. FBI officials abandoned the probe in January after learning the lead agent on the case had talked with lawyers for Notorious B.I.G.'s mother, who is suing the Los Angeles Police Department for allegedly covering up police involvement in her son's slaying. Voletta Wallace's suit, which seeks unspecified damages, is scheduled to go to trial April 12 in federal court in Los Angeles. FBI officials said the lawsuit had nothing to do with the decision to end the investigation.

Personally, I feel this thing runs deeper then Suge. When you mention Bush you were getting warm. The killing of of the 2 greatest Black rappers sounds like a government conspiracy to me starting with Matolla(Sony's ex-mob affiliated president) all the way to the White House (FCC). Who Knows. Its funny that the radio is dominated by one company which controls the format.

My turn...
First of all let's track the money. The folks who put up the money were not getting paid and they are still pissed off. Which started mess for Suge. Biggie and Tupac had quashed their mess and the reason for them going from coast to coast for business and personal reasons. You have to remember sometimes your friends will keep shit up because they are pissed off and do things in your name, ie the gun battles. As far as the shooting of Tupac, that was a blood and crip thing period. The folks involved made the shooter disappear. There was barely a blip in the newspapers because it went down as a random drive by. Biggie's shooting is a little different because his bodyguards were police who had no business moonlighting with known felons or folks on parole. So anyone who saw something didn't say shit because they weren't suppose to be there. the investigator (a white guy) who was on the case had the dudes narrowed down but because of the fear of another "LA Riot" they shut him down. This guy was the "Best" investigator on the force and they would not let him do his job. He felt it was his duty to tell Biggie's mother everything he had investigated when they shut him down. He said his peace to her and then retired from the force. Biggie's murder impacted the prison population, street gangs on both coasts and LA as a whole. The city was freaked out and was scared what the truth would be. Basically, cops were present when Biggie got shot and they could not respond in kind. I have yet to hear about his bodyguards firing back. The rough necks did but the police/guards did not. There was no government involvement at all. They could give a damn. Shit, you need to watch the movie Panthers and get your facts straight.

Since when did murder have a statute of limitations? All they are basically saying is that the police dept. isn't going to devote any more manhours to the investigation. In other words, "If you 'people' want to figure it out for us, then go ahead. Otherwise, we're through with this dead fat bastard." I hope this actually does inspire those who were in the know of the situation to eventually come forth and solve the case. In this day of technology, its hard to believe that they couldn't figure out anything better than what they've come up with...unless they just don't care?
