Fantastic song. I think this is one of the defining songs of the human condition. "What would I do if we were perfect; where would I go for disappointment?" Tell me there aren't so many people who feel this way? It really defines the mentality of many in this generation of 20-somethings in this country who have come to not only expect, but demand that a person have flaws. Of course no one is flawless, but its interesting to hear a song that so clearly expresses the necessity of obvious flaws in a personality, the need for conflict and how they transfer over into relationships. "I think of saving myself, but with nothing to complain about in Heaven - what would I do?" defines the desire for excitement over boredom. Even Chris Rock said if you're in a happy marriage, you're bored as hell. Its the unhappy relationships that are exciting because you never know what's going to happen next. This song does a great job of expressing that without falling into a fit of self pity like so many of its rock counterparts do, lyrically. Plus, the track is sweet as sugar! | |
