Even Prince hated the cover version!!! If I was Prince I would hate most of the cover versions of my songs...

JackieBlue said: Funny to see this thread after I just heard a Ginuwine song. I don't know if he's completely given up the music game but Sole is supposedly very religous and since their marriage he's become more interested in the church. He was troubled after the passing of his parents and Aaliyah, but religion and Sole have given him hope.
We'll see how long this last considering that he wainted until he a year after he knocked her up to get marred and talked shit about her.

"minimal" talent? Ginuwine? Come on! Dude could sing his ass off and was the best dancing performer while he was popular in my opinion. His moves were smooth and effortless and didn't look practiced like Usher (who is a great dancer, I'm not dissing his dancing) or overly agressive like Sissyqo (oops, did I type that?). The problem was NOT in his talent. The problem was those second rate productions of songs he had and as with most destined-to-be-great artists...TIMING. When "Pony" dropped, everybody took notice and there was a buzz that change was coming and Ginuwine was gonna be the one to bring it. What happened? Timbaland switched his style up slightly. He traded his weird "out" sound for his Timbaland bounce, which was his other thing. It became very popular and he never really went back to his out sound, although you could hear remnants of it in songs like "Brush Your Shoulders Off" by Jay-Z, which was a combination of his "out" sound and his bounce. Another example was "Beep Me 911" by Missy Elliot & 702. The fact is, Although Ginuwine was one of Timbaland's earlier projects, once he blew up, he was getting paid much more money to drop tracks for other artists. When a label is throwing a producer $100k + per track, its a hell of an incentive to turn over the better ones to them. Ginuwine was not getting the better of Timbaland's productions. I remember every time I would hear a new song by him, the same thing went through my head: "Why the fuck isn't he getting better songs? His singing is wasted on bullshit productions." That and the incorporation of hip hop into his style. The baseball cap & jeans look was never right for dude. He needed a bigger than life image, but he didn't create it for himself, didn't get someone else to create it for him and didn't have a team interested enough in keeping his career alive to make moves to promote him properly. He tried with his "Ginu-wine" (did anybody ever actually buy any of that?) and he was promoting some other bath products he was going to release and sell, although I don't know if that ever happened. It seems like TIMING has been against him throughout his whole career. I seriously believe Ginuwine has the skillz to be in the same position Usher is in right now. He's a better singer, a better performer and is "pretty boy" enough to sell posters and t-shirts to the teanage/post teen girls. He always 'brought it' live, he just never had the right show and material to do it up properly. I guess after he got married, the whole "Ginuwine the bachelor" image crashed. Oh well, such is life.

That's your opinion. Mine is that his disappearance from the scene has absolutely nothing to do with "timing." He can't sing all that well.

Ginuwine is married to Sole and they have 2 children
He recently got saved at their church with his wife by his side. The music industry is shady and in order to stay sane you need to strengthen you family base. Before going back into the crazy business.
