Aretha Franklin - Who's Zoomin' Who? (1985)

Aretha Franklin - Who's Zoomin' Who? (1985)

OK, I've been stuck on this song for about a week now. I wanted to know everyone's general thoughts on this song and the album as a whole. We all know "Freeway of Love," "Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves" and the title track, but what other tracks were you feeling on this LP?

How well do you think it holds up 20 years later?

I think this album was a worthy return for Aretha back in '85 and her vocals were on point.

This song should be part of a primer for the current crop of diva wannabes.
Here's a woman well past her prime, still able to call on her available skills and kill this track.

Listen to the ease of her ad-libs.
No outrageous vocal histrionics. They just ooze out like butter.

She's freakin' incredible.

Who's Zoomin Who is a master groove.

And lyrics are fun as well. I would like to say that it's one of my favorites from Aretha but then which track isn't.

'I'm the one that beat you at yo game...haha'

From similar joints I also luv "Get It Right"
I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

I loved that line. Still do. Classic.

"You WILL remember that name." I love how she taunts us with that. She knows what she's got.

The song "Another Night" is the best song on this album.Aretha doing a kickass rock number that Tina Turner would have killed for...

"my man...I don't need YOU to be bringing me down!"

I also love the song "Until You Say You Love Me"....why wasn't it released as a single?! confuse

In 1985, a friend of the family was having a baby girl and named her Reith.

I was four years old and loving "Freeway of Love" and "Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves", and kept asking "so her name is Aretha?" confuse

"No, Colin, it's Reith"

"....'Retha? confuse"

lol
