"Voyage To Atlantis" That does it for me!! Actually, there are so many good ones, it's hard to pick just one out, but when I was scrolling through the threadd looking at responses, this one jumped out at me. I also like Secret Lover. I don't remember which recent album it's from right now (and don't feel like looking it up). Actual edit.... [Edited 3/10/05 8:01am] I am MrVictor....

Damn, I can't pick just one! Well, this week, my favorites are:
Make Me Say It Again Girl Cooling Me Out Lover's Eve Who Loves You Better? Take Me to The Next Phase Highways Of My Life Don't Hold Back Your Love ... [Edited 3/10/05 8:46am] " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

The Mistress is a little embarrassed to say that she's only now really getting into the Isleys' work. What I've heard so far makes me want to kick myself for depriving myself for so long!
Some songs have left me literally speechless (Voyage to Atlantis , Ain't I Been Good To You), and others I've always liked, but am somehow hearing with fresh ears (For The Love Of You, Don't Say Goodnight). So right now, if I had to pick a favorite it would easily be Voyage to Atlantis. The first time I listened to it (thanks again, Dan!) I thought, "Oh my God, this must be what heroin feels like." But I'll be collecting in the next few months, so my answer may change. Come back to me. The Normal Whores Club

"Voyage To Atlantis" Yeah what he said. I think I play that song more than any of the others, but there are a few close 2nd and 3rds. Did you see them last year at KBLX Stone Soul Picnic? "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

I can't believe I forgot to mention "Fight the Power." I had this on a mixtape when I was younger, and didn't even know who it was by. I still bumped the hell out of it...
I can't play my music They say my music's too loud I kept talkin' about it I got the big run around When I rolled with the punches I got knocked on the ground With all this bullshit going down... [Edited 3/10/05 10:02am] The Normal Whores Club

Haven't heard this CD myself but i've heard Testify. This tune comes up when discussions/arguments about What was the first funk record? start. The other contender of course is James Brown's Out Of Sight. Move Over and Let Me Dance Testify we talked about this before, But I wonder if Ron Isley's vocals on Move Over and Let Me Dance may have had an influence on the purring vocals that Jimi would later have on some of his own tracks....on the other hand, Ron's vocals don't sound like that on any of the other early Isley brothers tracks that I've heard...at any rate, I think the feel on that cut is definitely a precursor to a component of the Experience sound...
