The Jacksons vs Goin' Places ??

Everybody always talk about Triumph and Destiny, but forget the 2 first releases on CBS, The Jacksons and Goin Places...

The Jacksons (November 1976) was a great success (gold status) and produced a platinum hit "Enjoy yourself"...

Goin' Places (October 1977) was a huge flop and produced no hit singles...

Tell me, what's your fav ???

The Jacksons, I love the way his voice sounds, the development of his voice was almost done back then at 18. And Dreamer is one of my all time favourite Jacksons tracks.
There's not much difference between these albums though, with all the Gamble & Huff written songs.

I agree, but I'm with The Jacksons. Can't pass on "Enjoy Yourself".

I meant the style of both albums are pretty much the same, mostly because Gamble and Huff wrote most of the songs.
I guess Blues Away was the first song he wrote all by himself, without the other Jacksons.

Definitely The Jacksons, Such a beautiful album with superb vocals from MJ. Some in his family felt he was oversinging on this lp, possibly to compensate for Jermaine's absense. shrug Whatever...

1. Enjoy Yourself == Crap
2. Think Happy == Crap
3. Good Times == Great
4. Keep On Dancing == Great (Favorite song)
5. Blues Away == Great
6. Show You The Way To Go = Great
7. Living Together == Great
8. Strength Of One Man == Crap
9. Dreamer == Great
10. Style Of Life == Crap

1. Music's Takin' Over = Great
2. Goin' Places = Crap
3. Different Kind Of Lady = Great
4. Even Though You're Gone = Great
5. Jump For Joy = Crap
6. Heaven Knows I Love You, Girl = Great
7. Man Of War = Great
8. Do What You Wanna = Great
9. Find Me A Girl = Great

Nothing to say...

Goin Places have the greatest slow jams of The jacksons career....

The Jacksons has only good Dance tunes... But weak slow jams...

I would give 'The Jaksons' the advantage simply because of "Show You The Way To Go" and "Blues Away". I can find something to like off of most of the songs on both albums though.

But the brothers proved with there next 2 LP's that the best writers for The Jacksons were The Jacksons.

I didn't know there was an album between "The Jacksons" and "Destiny". Is it on Philadelphia International Artists and Epic (I never understood that), like "The Jacksons" or is it strictly on Epic like "Destiny"?

I don't like niether. I don't like that philly sounding stuff. Too much going on to too little effect. But "even though ur gone" is great. That was from "going places" and is quite a touching song.

This is why I love so Much Goin Places.. More I listen to more I love it...

The Music is pure, no effects and overproducing...

Have you Listen to Find Me a Girl ?? This is the JAZZIEST song from the Jacksons... With a lot of sax.... This is the Best slow jam from the Jacksons. I love this song, And I like Man of war too, the first politic song from the Jackson...

Goin Places is a lost great album... Sad...
