It's sad that some of these are true, especially Sonique. I remember thinking "Good dance music is back AND being played on the radio". That was short lived!

This name rings in my head every so often.

Hoku "Another Dumb Blonde" (2000) She was definately one of the Brintey clones of the day (in look, maybe not sound) and I don't particurally remember this song too much, but do remember that name. She's Don Ho's daughter.

Didn't they have two more hits with Freak and Abuse Me? I thought that the Freak Show CD was bigger than Frogstomp, at any rate. Haven't really listened to them since Freak Show, though, so I might be wrong.

nod Amy Grant has had maybe 6 Top Ten or Twenty hits. Robyn also had a hit in America with "Do You Know (What It Takes)" (#7 on the Billboard 100, oddly the same position as "Show Me Love"). Other than those two, the list seems pretty accurate.

Her other single "Goody Goody" got a lot of play back in the mid-90s.

Gillette - Short, Short (Dick) Man

This is indeed their biggest single, but "Mr. Personality (You're So Ugly)" also received a lot of airplay.

Des'ree - You Gotta Be

"Feels So High" also received a lot of rotation on VH1 and radio, but, yeah, "You Gotta Be" was a larger success.

Rome - I Belong To You

Great choice.

Corina - Temptation

Wasn't this the same chick that sang "Summertime, Summertime"?

Luniz - I Got Five On It

Actually, Corina did an awesome bass cover of this song in 1997. BET played it once in a while and it was a great summertime song. I loved it but not it didn't really catch on and charted kind of low. #86 on the pop charts and only 21 on the Dance charts and 64 on the R&B. You think at least one of the formats would have embraced it. She had a few other singles chart on the dance charts but not very well ("Whispers" did hit 51 on the Pop charts though.

You're right. I checked out Corina on Google and she is the same chick behind "Summertime Summetime." It was remake, but it was a moderate hit in the late 90s.
