The Sgt. Pepper Effect

There's this reviewer, who for the most part I really dig and who is pretty damn hilarious. However he believes that Sgt. Pepper isn't quite all it's cracked up to be and that follows a formula to make an album seem better than it is namely to A. Start with the three or so of the very hest songs at the very beginning one after the other B. Bury the lesser songs in the middle and C. End on the absolutely highest note you can. Anybody agree with him and/or think they can name other albums that use this formula?

1. Sgt Pepper is one of the most hyped and overrated LPs of all time, and has some absolute howlers on it disbelief
2. This pattern is very familiar, oh yes!

I think the Sgt Pepper album is paramount and crucial in terms of innovation and influence. Mich like Hendrix did with other guitarists, it MADE a lot of other folks re-examine what they were doing. That album showed what was possible in the studio and The Beatles had the vision and the courage to do it. That album caused a lot of imitations, but, it hipped a lot of people to opening the doors to creativity.

nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

"Velvet Underground and Nico" could be considered one of those albums. It's not a bad album by any means but once I got it it hit me, it's overhyped.
