You probably thought this thread was about me. lol

I was just thinking about this song the other day when somebody asked me what my favourite lyric was. As a one-liner "You're so vain you probably think this song is about you" came to mind. (I couldn't decide on an overall favourite complete lyric...)

It's a good song that stands the test of time quite well.

"Clouds in my coffee, Clouds in my coffee" I love this song with Mick Jagger backing vocals. Hey Vain , so was this song about Warren Beatty?

She still hasn't revealed who the song is about yet...

She gave us a clue though

The person has an "E" in theeir name

This narrows it down to

Mick Jagger
Warren Beatty
James Taylor

I bought a Carly Simon comp (the 2 disc anthology) last year and lived on it when I was in my spring semester and really wanted to get into her catalog but then lost interest once I bought "Very/Further Listening" from the Pet Shop Boys and then I devoted myself to them. I should definately pick up Carly again soon. But where to start (hint, hint). I love "You're So Vain" but really dig the soft pop singles from "Coming Around Again". Is that album worth investing in.

Doesn't sound like James Taylor, does it. She also hinted that it wasn't about Mick Jagger in Janet's "Son Of A Gun".

i loved janets use of the song...when i first heard the song i thought it was groundbreaking..the perfect way to re-invent and incorporate an old song into a new one...

and then janet fucked it up by using missy's version for her video and single. disbelief

and why not use carly in your video? that would have shown real class on her part....

Catchy thread title. At first, I thought it was about u. Yeah, very, very cool song. Carly's no joke. Another one of my mom's albums that I grew up with.
