Artist You'd Like To See Their Lives In Bio-Pics Now that Ray is done with this year(and considering that its a fab-u-lous bio-pic) who would you like to see portratyed in the BIG SCREEN?
Mine are: James Brown-His life/career deserves to be told,,TRUTHFULLY! Lady Day(Billie Holiday)-Lady Sings The Bluse was a bullshit movie about Diana Ross not Billie. I want the REAL STORY in the screen without any stereotypes or misconceptions,,come real or come shine. And I'd love for Spike Lee to do the whole thing, he always seeks for the truth and he doesn't askes for less when it comes to the making of th movie(like he did with Malcolm X).

I heard something about a Freddie Mercury biopic starring Johnny Depp. I would definitely like to see that.

First on my list are the stories of Madonna and Prince, but I don't think we should get into them for several years. Marvin Gaye would be nice. Kurt Cobain too. Maybe the Beatles. It's too bad that Elvis and Michael Jackson's stories were already done in lame tv flicks.

Sam Cooke would be cool. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, The Beatles, Duke Ellington, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Dizzie Gillespie (though that might wind up being too much like Bird), The Rolling stones, Brian Wilson, Sly & The Family Stone, P-Funk, Curtis Mayfield
I'd go see a movie on any of these people and probably of several others as well

I cant BELIEVE there is not a real movie on The Beatles still yet.
Little Richard, The Temptations, The Jackon5 / The Jacksons / The Dells, Tina, they had sum classic films that I loved. I thought Lady Sings The Blues was well acted and was a very good movie..tough I dont know too much about Billie Holiday I got a great glimpse of what life was like 4 her. They should make more movies on artists. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Rick James---I wonder whatever happened to the planned film starring David Chappelle as Rick?
Marvin Gaye---For years,I've heard rumors of a Marvin Gaye biopic.I would be first in line to see it! Diana Ross---wouldn't this be a perfect role for Beyonce? Donna Summer---she's the former "Queen of Disco" and this could be an exciting film. They should use the excellent book "Donna Summer:Her Life and Music" by Josiah Howard as the basis for the script. Earth Wind and Fire---yeah,I know it looks as if I'm just picking all of my favorite artists, lol, but seriously, the Earth Wind and Fire story is very interesting and needs to be told.I envision Spike Lee as the director.

Most bio-pics are average. vanilla ice or milli vanilli would be cool. [Edited 2/28/05 2:23am]

I think 'Lady Sings The Blues' is brilliant.I'd like to know what parts do you think are the "stereotypes" and misconceptions"? In all honesty,I've never read any bios on Billie Holliday,so maybe I don't know the whole story. [Edited 2/28/05 2:25am]

my first pick would also have to be James Brown Then of course Marvin, Miles, Stevie.. Sly... hell, many other great names have already been mentioned in this thread!
I also think Otis Redding could make a fantastic movie ...probably Quincy Jones... John Lennon ..and (if it counts) what about a Berry Gordy/Motown roundup? and... yes, Michael Jackson could of course make one helluva movie Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

There are a lot of artists I love of whom I wouldn't want to see a film made, because their stories aren't particularly exciting. I won't even bother to mention them; I'd get stoned by everyone.
Top of my list - Bessy Smith. She had a hell of a life, a rock 'em, sock 'em attitude and she made amazing music.

I'll be content with the upcoming Sammy Davis Jr. story that Denzel's producing.
I hope Tommy Davidson gets the lead.... "Pedro offers you his protection."

Ok, 1st off,,, 1.Loius McKay(Billy Dee's character) was the LAST men she got linked with and her 2nd/last husband, NOT her 1st man. And unlike how the movie portraits, he used to beat the shit out of her, take her money to invest on his biz. He was her pimp and like the rest of her men, he used to supply her with the drugs to keep her in line(sometimes he even use it with her). Another thing, he let her SIGN her royalties to him ON HER DEATH BED b4 she got arrested. In fact, the REAL Louis McKay was the so-called "storyline supervisor"and producer for the movie. He was rotten just like the rest of Lady Day's men(Unlike the movie where he pleads with her to kick the habbit). 2.Billie Holiday NEVER witnessed a lynching incident. Hell, she didn't even knew the meanining behind the song "Strange Fruit" untill later. 3.It shows in the movie that she used drugs for the 1st time supplied by her band leader(who's a white man). WRONG! she got into drugs for the 1st time by her 1st husband Jimmy Monroe in the late 30's(who was the inspiration behind the song Don't Explain). 4.Sadie(Billie's mother) was nothing like that naive innocnet maid you saw in the movie. She knew where she got her daughter's into when she sent her to that whorehouse, she KNEW whats cookin', ok? 5.The weak pathatic sad ass Billie Holiday character was NOTHING like you saw in the movie. All of her friends said that she was a wild fiery chic who neva let anybody control her, she chose her own PATH and misjudgments and she ALONE took full responcibitly over her mishaps and wild ways. She was a party girl who strived sex from BOTH genders. 6.The infamous autography "Lady Sings The Bluse" book was bullshit. All of her friends said that she didn't even read the book, let alone wrote it,,she let William Dufty(The book's ghost-writer) do the jop by taking old magazine quotes and write the whole thing so she could get the loot to support her habbit. So, all of what you saw was "SHALLOW JIVE" and no reality to it whatsoever. The only good thing about the movie was it introduced Billie Holiday to a YOUNGER genaration. But the REAL Lady Day story was a whole lot deeper than what you heard. Perhaps you should read the book "Wishing On The Moon":The Life & Times Of Billie Holiday By Donald Clarke, that was the book that set the record str8!
