"reggaeton" music What u think of this style of music?
I liked it at first..then everything I heard from it sounded JUST alike. Every single artist had just about the same exact beat in it. I dont know, I have this album by this woman named Ivy Queen from my pal Alejandro...I dont understand what she was saying, but every single song sounded the same and I was like...um....i guess. But I also have an album by "Oitbull" and it is a pretty decent album that has variable beats in it. How du u feel about it? Straight Jacket Funk Affair

There are a few tracks I've had on my playlist. Not by Ivy Queen though. She's Reggaeton "old school"...though she's still out there. She got married and started to try the J-Lo look...she had more edge with the dreads. What's more interesting is the way a typical reggaeton song comes together. I don't know of any reggaeton artist that's actually a "musician". But guys usually get together for a session, lay down the tracks (in a 99 dollar app...even if it's a higher end studio). The song is usually written on the fly and the session ends with a completed track. That explains why the tracks sound the way they do. Some are really bad. Tego Calderon is different. You should check him out. Daddy Yankee is supposed to be the big thing these days....or last time I checked. Not a big fan...but I find the genre interesting. I can't listen for too long....I liked the Dancehall reggae that came out from the Panamanian artists in the early 90's better then alot of this reggeaton stuff. El General,Nando Boom,La Atrevida,Marcony...etc they were good. I do like Ivy Queen though she is nice!!! I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back. I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there. I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish. And I am

Maybe the producers will up the quality. Especially as the music has caught on in the U.S. and Europe. Don't know if it will ever more than a novelty to non-spanish speaking listeners. Doubt it. (If there is any barrier, that will be it.) The model is cool though. The producers start by putting together compilations. Most of the artists start with one track on a compilation. If they are well received they get to be on more. Once they have a good track record, they go solo. The funny part is that every track is heavily branded with the producers name. "Luny Tunes" for example samples their name on every track of every compilation. I'm like you guys, I prefer Reggae and I can only listen to one track at a time...if I listen at all. Still, I find the genre interesting to watch. Not much else new happening. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify
