Bjork's Swan Dress: The 4 Year Anniversary.

Yes, the 77th Annual Academy Awards have come and gone, and so has the annual parade of fashion that we customarily make a big deal out of then immediately forget ( The only dress I can really remember was Hilary Swank's for it's, I don't know, awkwardness). Thank God we have artist like Bjork, who can show up and unpretentiously (have you seen this woman's outfits) upstage the awards with a simple swan dress. They talked about that dress this year, they talked about it last year and they'll talk about it next year. Bjork herself thought it wasn't much of a big deal as I quote, "Isn't this the same place that made the Busby Berkely musicals? Aren't they used to this kind of thing?" Apparently not B. But that's ok I still feel you. The question is do you still feel her? Was her dress a hit or a colossal miss? Are people making too much of a deal over B's dress or is she a misunderstood artist who wore her designer friend's dress, which went along with the cover art theme of her album, with pride and within the comfort zone of her own unique world?

The funny thing is those in the know knew she would wear something that would catch everyone's attention, but everyone was caught off gaurd by her swan dress. It's ingenius.

You know you're in a state of pop culture overload when someone calls a dress "ingenious".

Color me overloaded. We're on a website that picks apart every little detail of artists, most of which are a complete waste of time (Britney Spears). When people are still talking about a DRESS 4 years after the fact it's pretty much become iconic and therefore, in her choosing such dress to wear, is ingenius.

I suppose this is a relative term. If Madonna had done this a lot of you would be savaging her, but since it's Bjork, it's creative and unique. lol And, oh yes, ingenious.

The only look I really ever savaged of M's was her cowgirl chic look. What did it have to do with the album? It was just a corny invention to me. I could be wrong. Yeah I suppose it's relative. But I still like that fact that she wore a SWAN dress to the Oscars.

Bjork's turds are probably swan-shaped, too. She has an ingenious sphincter. lol

I thought of the look as an extension of the folky/country-ish acoustic guitars on half the album.

Well, of course. That's because Bjork is better than Madonna.
Madonna is a smelly pirate hooker compared to Bjork, the ice queen.

I feel that. I've only heard "Music" in passing. I still think of it as basically an electronica album.

I liked the dress. It was very, ummmm, BJORK.

That being said, I HATE that it's the only reason MANY people know of her (at least in the US). That's just SAD.

That could be true but she tries to seem even more weird than she really is. It just comes across and forced to me. No one would ever wear a dress like that because they think it's a nice dress, she was wearing it to say "ooh, look at me, aint I strange"?

Ok but she did have some kind of swan theme going on (I can't explain it at the moment) so it didn't just come from left. It's better then her Michael Jackson dress.

They dogged Jeneane Garofalo for going to the Emmy's "underdressed". She had on slacks and a dress sweater. She said something like, "I didn't come in jeans. I had on my dress slacks. But I'm not going to show up in a 10,000 dollar gown."

Even though I love the look, I am still freaked out when I see the outfit she wore at the Fashion Rocks show during her performance with Alexander McQueen...

Too bad I cannot find pics of the actual performance, where the stage was dark and she looked like Medussa..

Probably he asked a stupid question. His mother asked Eric Clapton 'how long he has been playing guitar' just this week. Their entire family is inbred. Son wearing nazi uniforms, father a twat, what can you expect?

What'd she perform? She had a lot of cool new looks for her 2003 tour. The show I saw, she looked like a lizard with green scaley makeup.

I thought that was hot. McQueen is my favorite designer. Getting into Grace Jones territory there.clapping I don't think the swan look was as brilliant as Madonna's cones or Li'l Kim's peekaboo pasty, though.
