Making The Band 3

Starts tonight. Who's excited about this after the riveting "Making The Band 2" with Da Band? Tell me u don't miss Chopper, Babs, and Fred...

Guess it's going to be an all-girl group time. Diddy says he's aiming for "pop-soul with a dash of hip-hop flavor in it." He also says the following about why watching the possible band members living together will be interesting:

"I don't think no human being has been able to just figure out the woman. As complicated as I'm explaining it to you, that's how it is. It's a big undertaking to move 19 young ladies under one roof, and it sets the tone for some good TV ... having their monthly cycle coming together, and emotions and moodiness and competitiveness."

Ok, Diddy... confused

Here's an idea for Making The Band 4:

Why not try actually making a frickin' band.
You know, putting actual musicians together, seeing how they vibe, etc.
I guess that would be too much of a departure at this point.
They don't care if good music comes out of this or not. They just want reality tv drama for the sake of ratings.

Kinda like a Popstar, but with skills. Like those guys that stand in the background and play stuff on their little instrument thingies.

Why is he working on an all female band when he has Dream? What the heck happened to them? Given that track record I'm not holding my breath. And it really should be called Making of the Group.

And how can there not be good drama? Like Diddy pointed out, they'll all be "having their monthly cycle coming together."

Plus, when asked about the criteria for the band, Diddy said, "I'm trying to find talent, young ladies who can sing and dance, and follow in the footsteps of Beyonce, of Madonna, of Britney Spears, of the Supremes, of TLC..." Plus, "They gotta look good!"

By the way, this may jack my own thread, but anyone watch that show "My Super Sweet Sixteen" on MTV? Last week's episode featured the daughter of Cee-Lo (from the Goodie Mob) and it was hilarious...

If a bunch of dudes and two chics can fight like cats and dogs you know a house full of females is guaranteed drama. I can get that with Tyra and ANTM without having to hear what I bet will be a whole bunch of riffing and vocal acrobatics with a dash of droppin' it like it's hot (or lukewarm at the very least).

Perfect criteria for an entertaining reality show, but not a memorable band.

nod Yes. Now, if the show is interesting as the promo then, P. Diddy may have a winner on his hands with this new damn show. I will be scoping this shit out to see what he is pulling this time around.

I heard a single from Dream about a year ago.I don't remember the name of the track but it featured Loon.It didn't do very well commercially.I think the album may have been shelved.Dream were part of that late 90's teen pop wave. The current state of the american market is not right for a caucasian R&B girl group.

You took the thoughts outta my mind word for word, I don't even know why they call it MAKING THE BAND when don't none of them play a damn instrument.

VH1 had a show on four years back called BANDS ON THE RUN and it was the only reality music show I've ever watched. They actually had real bands playing across america for a record contract, I wonder why VH1 never did a BANDS ON THE RUN 2?

nod Yeah, I remember that show. I really enjoyed that show and all the bands especially Flickerstick. I agree with you that they need to do another Bands ON The Run 2 instead of this Puffy Bullshit.

I agree. It wouldn't be P Diddy's "Making The Band" without all the stereotypical staples. It'll be like behind the scenes of Destiny's Child.

i was thinking the same thing. Dream has not exactly taken the world by storm so why would anyone want to be in another group he's putting together? especially after DA Band flopped big time and i second that emotion, on it being called making the group. using the word band implies that they play instruments.

BANDS ON THE RUN was great. Here is my theory on the name of MAKING THE BAND.The premise was conceived in part by Lou Perlman. He created The Backstreet Boys,NSYNC,and LFO.The original MAKING THE BAND focused on the creation of O-Town.These type of singing groups were dubbed Boy Bands.I don't know who came up with that terminology, but the public and the industry latched on to it.As far as I'm concerned, pop group would have been a more suitable lable. When I hear the word "band",I think of musicians playing musical instrument.

I never cared for P Diddy too much in the first place, but on Making the Band 2 when he was picking everyone a part physically is when I just started to depise him. Telling Sarah she needs to lose weight, because "all of the dudes" will be looking at her.... rolleyes jackass.

I think Making the Band 3 is funny as all hell lol Diddy is making this show with all his looks, knowing these broads arent going to do shit! lol All Diddy's comments at the end of the first episode were priceless cool lol

I think Diddy has been hanging around Prince to much in the last couple years & now see's how much Pop Music has fallen to Lip Syncing and Dance Acts lol
