The thing that I love about this song is that its so timeless. The way that it looks at war from the eyes of a soldier returning home, only to find that his (or her) entire world has kept on moving and all the soldier has to show for his sacrifice is scars. Deep timely stuff. Not to mention Mr. Hazels guitar intro that sounds like a fucking bomb being dropped. Awesome song.

Yeah, I really like this "spooky" period Funkadelic went through, all the way up to "Let's Take It To The Stage" in 75 with Linda Blair from The Exorcist on the cover. "March To The Witches Castle" is one of those cuts. I love the song, and the title.

nod A very deep, haunting Vietnam - experience track from Funkadelic...I was pretty young when I first heard all the early Funkadelic stuff, and Man, I wasn't ready for Most of the Shit they were dealing with conceptually--I had to keep coming back over the years to take it all in...

What makes this song so spooky I think is the high piercing backgroung vocals as if someone was being tortured. Eddie total control of the feedback from a cranked amp is truly amazing.
