Michael Franks When I first joined The Org., I was amazed at how varied the musical tastes everybody here has! One of my all time favorites has always been Michael Franks... I have just about everything he's put out and seen him live many times... Anybody else out there?

Although I love his stuff, I totally understand why some folks can't get into it, ... [Edited 2/23/05 10:34am] " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

"Rainy Night in Tokyo" is my favorite song by him. The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.

[Edited 2/24/05 21:48pm] Why a "closet" fan? Since he's not that mainstream or well known outside the smooth jazz circles, it's hard to be "out" as a Michael Franks fan...compared to other popular smooth jazz artists like "Fourplay" or "bob james" or "bobby caldwell"...

I literally grew up hearing this man's muisc around the house & on the radio. My dad had his first 4 albums :
The Art of Tea Sleeping Gypyies Birchfield Nines Tiger in the Rain I have inheired those albums and bought for myself Passionfruit Objects of Desire One Bad Habit If you'll brand new to his music it'll take a while to getting use to, otherwise he'll put you to sleep. Also the funny thing about him is that he can write a song about almost anything. He's one of my favorite jazz vocalist. I trace his music to my early childhood when the only thing I worried about was missing Seseame Street. Favorite songs: Monkey See, Monkey Do Popsicle Toes Eggplant the Lady Wants to Know Don't Be Blue When the Cookie Jar is Empty The entire "Tiger in the rain" Never Sastified Ladies' Night When Sly Calls Your Secret's Safe with Me and others....
