Your favorite Rock Star encounters Encounters, Sightings, VIP room, Three ways, Groupie Lovin’, Stalking in the bushes, Getting High with Whitney....concerts don't count...
What are some of your favorite moments? Mine are okay, I haven’t been around long. 1. I see Nick Ashford on a regular basis, they live close by. You can always spot Nick with his tall body and long hair. Last time I saw him on 59th street, it was six months ago and he was walking really fast. I've seen Val and Nick together a few times. Plus, my uncle has gone to a few of their parties. 2.I talked shit with Flavor Flav in the train station…that was awesome. 3. I saw Isaac Hayes in a car in Harlem, he was stuck in Traffic, it was a scene when everyone recognized him. 4. I had a phone conversation with Dave Navarro. He was on tour with the Chilli Peppers. My father was doing security, he stuck his phone in Dave’s face. Dave signed his autograph for me on the back S&M shop ad. 5. I hung out with the Heavy Metal band Anthrax on their tour Bus. We watched porn and Tenacious D. 6. I met the rapper Special Ed in the late 80’s when I got it made came out. I had no idea who he was, he had to explain that he was the guy who made the song, than I was like oh I love that song. 7. I saw the guy with the fucked up hair from the Melvin’s at the IFP film festival. 8. I saw slick Rick in the street in the 80’s with mad gold on…there was a large crowd. 9. I saw Stevie Wonder at a function at the Apollo. I was part of the press that day though. 10. This one is so lame…Jessie Camp blocked my way at a Megadeth show. 11. I tried to get an interview with the Funk master flex, it didn’t happen………..can’t think of any others. lost a chance to see Madonna and Big Daddy kane when they visited a hospital. Did they bang each other? I've met more famous people, but not muscians. I'll add my great paris hilton encounter to this list when she drops her album. My family has so much better, my uncle has been in close proximity with everyone, including P, missy elliot.... [Edited 2/26/05 18:53pm]

I went to a party celebrating the release of the Eurythmic's "We Too Are One" album. It was at Dave Stweart's house in Encino, CA. There was about a hundred people in attendance, including Clive Davis, Jermaine Jackson and Bananaramma. Dave and Annie did an acoustic set in his large living room. They played for about an hour. The house was amazing. There was a studio in the backyard, where the Travelling Willburys had recently recorded thier first album. A nice pool, naturally. Dave Stewart had an incredible jukebox with a bunch of soul, Motown and rock classics. A great day. I have more stories, but this day was particularly sureal. For me it would be cooking for Judge Mablean Ephriam and hanging out with Rick James. This was before the scandal. He was so sweet and funny as hell! There are more but I can't remember any others that were as nice and that I actually had a conversation with. I have met a slew of celebrities but only a few seem memorable! Arista seems to put on the best parties. How does annie look in person? Was Patti Smith there? ShySlantedEye1 said: and hanging out with Rick James
I would have loved to met Rick James, I feel like I know him.

Rick was buck wild but I would never believe he was cruel or intentionally hurt anyone. And I was around him when he was amped. I just think he wanted the bullshit over with in court and cop to just about anything. If he had enough respect to send his kids out of the house when the grown folks came over then I don't see him being mean. I was casually walking down the street in Soho, NYC a couple years ago. Mary J. Blige emerges from a car in front of me and dashes into the Plein Sud shop. Nearly lost all bowel control. Me, not her.
About a year ago I saw Tommy Lee on a subway train. His buddies tried to swarm around him to avoid a sighting. But it wasn't hard to notice him. He is SO oddly attractive. I saw Chelsea Clinton that way during rush hour once. It was so weird the way nobody would bother her. I'm sure there are more, but I'm kind of over it. You see lots of celebrities in New York. hanging out with prince and the band at the new york npgmc web launching party at studio 54 is definitely tops.
chatting with p and larry g at the record release party for "rave" at the fontaine bleu in south beach. it was after the industry masses had left and prince just got very chill and hung out for a bit with larry, my friend rob, and myself. bumping into gwen stefani after a movie in downtown chicago. she's so polite and friendly...and hot! meeting tori amos before a show in philly and realizing she was complimenting my hair going to The Cock (a seedy gay bar with an even seedier back room) in nyc after a "night of 1,000 stevies" and seeing john norris from mtv trying to get a blow job.

I met Andre 3000 when he stopped in Australia to promote Roses. I busted a rhyme for him, which he said was "cool, man!" and he signed my CD "to M.C. Brown Shoes" (my hip-hop alter ego). He's a really friendly, tops bloke.
I was at the Beastie Boys show in Sydney a while back, and before the gig Slipknot happened to also be at the nearby Channel V studio doing interviews and signing autographs. I got the guy with the zip mouth and the guy with the long hair to sign a piece of paper, and then I told them they sucked to their faces - or masks anyway. Neither they nor their supposedly hardcore fans reacted. That same day I was less than 1 metre away from the Beastie Boys and Mix Master Mike as they came in and out from interviews. My mate and I were the only Beasties fans there in a crowd of about 30, everybody else there were Slipknot people. I brandished a pen and the cover booklet from Hello Nasty and called out to them. They refused to even look at me. [Edited 2/27/05 3:08am]

My brother worked in a record store who held signing sessions with bands, and just after I got married, he bought a wedding card and got it signed by Manic Street Preachers, so now I can pretend they are all my best mates and that they came to the wedding. Which of course they didn't cos they don't know me from Adam

I have a zillion stories (ya'll gonna have to wait for my book )
Here's a good one: Backstage at Sheila E. at the LA House of Blues. The weekend before the show was the premiere of the Rick James Behind The Music special on VH-1 (I wanna say '98?), where he talked about how he was reformed and sober now. I was smoking a cigarette on the balcony when he walked up. I asked for his autograph and he obliged. Less than 5 minutes later (i was still outside smoking), 3 people carried his ass out because he couldn't stand. He was SOOOOO wasted.

Oh, I forgot this one.
After the release of Return of The Space Cowboy, I went to an autograph signing to meet Jay Kay. I wanted him to write something to a friend of mine as a joke, which he wouldn't acknowledge at all. Without a word at all, he just scribbled an autograph and that was it. I shouldn't have bought anything Jamiroquai released since. Some artists are so ungrateful, it's not worth meeting them. I bet Madonna would disappoint me to no end, as much as I want the chance.
