80's R'n'B is Amazing

I love me some 80's R'n'B. It is something that I can't put my hand on; the drums, keyboards don't know, but it just sounds good. Some of my favorite 80's tracks are.

Can You Help Me - Jesse Johnson
Happy - Surface
Love Is A Houase - Force MD's
I Like - GUY
I Want Her - Keith Sweat
Digital Display - Ready For the World
Ballad of Dorthy Parker - Prince
Cherrelle - Saturday Love
Who Do You Love - Bernard Wright
Give It Up - The Jacksons
I Don't Wanna Leave You - Time
Color of Success - Morris Day
Rock Wit'ha - Bobby Brown
Watching You - Slave
PRINCE: Always and Forever
MICHAEL JACKSON: Always and Forever

Besides "You're The One For Me", the only other D Train song I have is called "D Train".....get up on the funky D Train....and it's the dub version and the B Side to a 12 Inch I have of a kinda tired, midtempo song (I would have to dig through my stack to get the title of the A Side). When I saw the 12 Inch in the record store, back in the day, I bought it for the B Side. The song "D Train" is a hard, kicking, funky jam.

D Train had an album but I never got around to buying it back then and now it's hard to find. I'd love to hear the rest of the tracks though.

D-Train were great nod they had a couple of albums actually. If I remmber correctly I just own the Music album and a Best Of collection. Dang, I started a thread on D-Train a few weeks ago http://www.prince.org/msg/8/133864 ...that thread had as much impact as the last George Michael CD lol
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

I saw your thread but I couldn't comment because I don't remember that particular song. You should have listed it in my "Forgotten Funk" thread. lol

ditto. I loved Keith Sweat, New Edition (heartbreak), Guy, Pebbles, Al B Sure!, Bobby Brown, Alexander O'Neil, Angela Winbush, and the list goes on and on.

I don't know, but its just something about 80's R&B that gets me excited. It really inspires me, they just didn't sing about sex, they sung about real love, making love, independence (Pebbles' Mercedes Boy), how one spouse gets on their everlasting nerves (Alexander O'Neil's Criticize) and day dreaming in class while in high school (Troop's All I do is think of you). Gosh what memories.... touched
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I actually have a lot more of that music than newer music. It gets me going, I dance my ass off to it, dream when I listen to it, think about happy times in the past when I listen to it (not that I live in the past), chill out while listening to it - it's all good.
And yes, it wasn't all vulgar -talking about smackin' that ass, etc, etc. You get get your groove on with your honey without hearing someone talk about "Spread em, beeyotch!"
