the mars volta - Frances the Mute

so - what do you think?

It's amazingly prog-rock.. really, an audacious album. I think it was USA Today, or maybe Rolling Stone, that compared it to a mix between Rush's 2112 album and OK Computer by Radiohead... and i think that description actually fits extremely well. A little Pink Floyd and indy rock thrown in.

Very interesting record... not sure if i like it yet or not. I feel like this is one that i'm going to have to really get to know.

anyone else get this today? they had it at best buy for 6.99, a friend of mine recommended it to me.

They're certainly interesting, they gave a mindblowing concert (so I heard....couldn't get tickets... sad ) here in Amsterdam last week!

So far so good. I've only listened to the first half of the album because I keep playing tracks 1-4 over and over, Theres a lot to digest. They set the bar pretty high with Deloused, and so far this one continues that momentum. I love the fact that their sound is so different from anything else at the moment.

I love this album. It blew me away. I didn't think of Radiohead or Rush, except if you compare Geddy Lee's voice to this singer's voice. I like this singer's voice better though. I do think it is an album you just put on and experience, similar to some of Pink Floyd's stuff I used to listen to. That is the only comparison I can make. Which is what makes this band incredible. To be so original and amazing at the same time is why I like them.
