I can't say I've paid enough attention to the lyrics to know what it's about but I do like it

It´s a song about loss. The loss of a love, and no matter how hard you try nothing can stop the pain...that´s why she sings about all the things she does in order to cope, but nothing helps ( turn the sauna up a little hotter, fast for thirty days, pray til early May, try a little yoga for a minute..BUT IT WON´T LET GO !!)
Go it now ? I was just listening to this song on repeat when I discovered this thread, and believe me, everything she says in that song is true. " Ain´t nothing worse than rejection, I´d even feel a little better if you slapped my face !" ( 777 93 11, The Time , 1982) " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I agree It's a slow build into the lyrics. Beautiful song. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

It's THE best song from that album. I wish she had released it. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come on her next release. "Worlwide Underground" was a little too experimental for me, and I like wierd sh!t.

The only downside to WU for me was that it was too short. I think it's categorized as an EP. Anyway, I know this may make some fans cringe but I'm completely open... MTV News reports that she's in the studio with the Neptunes working on her next album. Could be one song or several but I think her style is too strong and creative for it to become what many don't like about Pharrell and Chad. Some of their best songs are the ones that never get released. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I love that ep so much - its one of the few cds I can pop in
& listen straight thru with no skipping.

It's one of the songs she did. The other one was Back In the Day.

This song is one of the best Chaka and Rufus songs never recorded.
It's probably my favorite Badu joint.
