They had a few really good ideas. Unfortunately, they had no real sound, as their albums sounded like thei producers: Blow It... was produced by Steve Albini, and it sounds like it, and Eight Arms was totally a Bob Rock album.

Yes, they did lack a certain something that similar artists like Belly, The Breeders, The Blake Babies even and Juliana Hatfield had.

good call there..i bought Eight Arms and a Live CD i found for girlbros. radio..their sound does seem all over the place.....ive been real hesitant to go out and buy more stuff now....

hmmm...

I really like "American Thighs". If you like that grungy alternative rock sound, angsty, morbid lyrics and hooks hooks hooks then you'll love it. It's the perfect mid-90's time capsule.

I think "Universal Heartbeat" by Juliana Hatifeld was better (around the same time), but hey Seether was cool, too.

That would be Nina Gordon.

Yeah, the brunette? I like her. The girl who went out with Dave Grohl, right?

Louise Post was the brunette (she went blond after Nina Gordon left). Louise went out with Grohl.

Actually they were both brunettes. Louise Post dated Groul. It's believed that Nina was actually the lighter of the two heavies.

She was skinnier if that's what you mean. Yes, they were both real brunettes, but Nina was blond in the Volcano Girls video, anyway. Also on the Eight Arms tour. Man, this thread is taking me back.

Ah so it's Lousie I'm talking about. I remember her name now...she's the one that reminds me of Juliana a bit.

Nah I meant lyrically. I'm sorry about that.

She had the more aggresive vocals...like on "Straight," which I think was about Dave Grohl. I think. And I think it meant "straight" as in drugs? I think he cheated on her. I don't know. It's been almost a decade.

You're right. Definitely on the post-breakup album, and also on Straight, Shutterbug, and Don't Make Me Prove It (I think that was Louise). Nina sang happier songs like Volcano Girls and Awesome.

I have an interesting version of "I Think It Was December" by Nina.....

Y'all knew that Veruca came about because Nina (and the other chick) were in line to see Wendy and Lisa's Eroica show?

The girls recently did some work with Nina..but i guess it will never see the light of day cause the tunes didnt really fit the feel Nina was going for.

I have good news smile A few weeks ago Nina said that Wendy came to the studio and played guitar and bass on a song called "Suffregette" that she, Wendy and Susannah wrote biggrin I'm pretty sure this song WILL be on the album. I can't wait!
