DURAN DURAN... what did you think? Going to see them tonight in LA - who has caught the show already around the country and what did you think? Like? Not like? I assume they play most of their latest CD - but do they cover old ground as well?
Please please tell me now! [Edited 2/27/05 9:46am] VOTE....EARLY

You can check out the set lists at DuranDuran.com in the News section.
They are doing about 5 or 6 songs from the new album.

Gotta say I was not very impressed with most of the new stuff. I did like about 2 songs, though - and liked the anime thing they showed during one song. I understand that the new songs play/sound better live than on the new CD...?
Wold any one agree? I didn't listen to the whole thing - but just mostly skipped through it. Someone I know who LOVED them got the CD and took it back - was that disappointed. It was a blast to hear all the old stuff with a stadium fulll of people dancing and singing along. They played ALL my favorites I loved that they closed with "Rio" - it got a huge crowd response and they projected the Nagel cover on the jumbo tron - the whole thing made me smile from ear to ear for 2 hours! To each his own, but I think "Astronaut" is their best album in years!!!!
I did not care for the "Pop Trash" album in 2000.

Yes, I agree, they sound much better live than on cd. The mark of a great band. If your friend took the cd back, then she doesn't really LOVE them. j/k I think people who don't like the cd are expecting something really specific. Kinda like when people yearn for Prince's old style. With any group/artist that I like, I go more by the nuances of the music... the general feeling they put across. Everyone has their individuality and I respect that. I wasn't toooo into Pop Trash, but I still respect the fact that those are my boys doing what they love. The energy in a stadium full of people groovin to a good tune is undeniable, isn't it? They always put on a good show, but when the crowd gets into it as well, it's a GREAT show.
