And where would you recommend finding the "Seriously" remix single? Is that the kind of song you could find as a download on a pay site (I'd buy it for a dollar). Any place on the net good for selling old singles cheap...let me guess...Ebay!

Are you talking about the version in the Where the Streets Have No Name CD single?

1 Where the Streets Have No Name (I Can't Take My Eyes off You)
2 How Can You Expect to Be Taken Seriously? [Extended Mix]
3 Bet She's Not Your Girlfriend
4 How Can You Expect to Be Taken Seriously? [Classical Reprise]

Cause I got that CD mr.green
No, seriously giggle, if you want me to encode it at a high bitrate and send it to you, just tell me

I think that IS the one. I have that to. It should be the one with the piano and different percussion.

Now how about that elusive Liberation double single? evillol

I wonder why the 2 have never collaborated.

Actually, has Erasure EVER collaborated with anyone?

I heard a rumor that Erasure was going to contribute tracks to the next Geri Halliwell record, but pulled them when she wanted to make changes. I would have loved to hear that.

PSB's style is more

whereas Erasure is more

I mean:
PSB. I'm a man (or a woman) and I like music. I like PSB
Erasure. I'm gay and I like gay music.

That's a little cut and dried. PSB...did the whole go west and NYC boy thing. And you'd be more apt to hear their music in a sweaty club. However, I do get what you are saying. I am not sure if PSB caters to both girls and guys. A girl got me into Erasure...but that was back during the WIld days...when it wasn't widely known about either band's sexuality.

I also think many of the PSB songs are about being alone and not finding love whereas Erasures is more about being in love.

Pet Shop Boys. No contest.

Pet shop boys gets my vote on there work from 83-90, but they I think they become thinner on the ground after that.

Apart from the covers album, Erasure have been more constant.

I think that PSB became much better after 1990. Behavior, Very & Bilingual are excellent albums. Their later stuff is certanly more palatteable. I found Erasure to thin out after Cowboy (and had been thinnning out with their "self titled" disk.

But both have seen their peak and prime. I think PSB have more music left in them though.

If you're only juding the Pet Shop Boys on "Disco" and "West End Girls", you really don't got enough of their stuff. I have most of their CDs and I'm definately a Pet Head. I've been tempted to buy Erasure's hits CD but never did. I wouldn't say I dislike them but when I got into the Pet Shop Boys last year, I really got into them.

My decision was based on the fact that I have more Erasure records than Pet Shop Boys records. I've heard lots more than what I own. I remember when the Music Choice dance channel added "Paris City Boy" to its playlist. It was like watching an accident. Every time it was played, I couldn't help but listen and marvel at how horrible it was. The same station currently has Erasure's "Breathe" in heavy rotation.

Paris City Boy & New York City Boy = ill It's why I fell out of them for a while.

This comparison is not "apples to apples" by any stretch.

I don't know enough about Erasure to make an educated comment, but I've been a PSB fan since the beginning and I love them!

They are not the best thing since sliced bread, but they have the utmost respect for their fans, and they always try and do something cool for them (i.e. CD Singles with tons of remixes, b-sides, cool packaging, etc.) In this day and age, it's so rare. I continue to be a fan thru good times and bad because unlike Princey and other artists who just gouge their fans whenever possible, the PSB always try and put out quality product for their fan base.

They did an instore appearance at Tower Records in LA when Nightlife came out (no pun intended), and they literally signed 25 things each for me. One of the items (my Bilingual booklet) got smeared and Neil even apologized!

That's a class act to me.

They are very classy and wait on putting out certain items due to what their fans can afford. But they are just as demanding as any other base.

Prince gouging his fan base though???? I WISH!

Why do you say they are just as demanding? When the remastered all their albums (which IMO, some of them sounded just fine already), the booklets in each cd were AWESOME - the story behind every song, full lyrics, previously unreleased material, remixes that were hard to get or never available on cd, etc. I didn't regret getting any of those and they were all pretty pricey. They know where their bread is buttered and I don't think they exploit their base to the extent that other artists do.

Plus, they answer questions that their fans send in on their website (can you imagine princey doing that in any language that would make sense to anyone outside of paisley park? And even if he did, half of the shit would be all lies anyway.)

Prince gouging his fan base (just a few examples - re-re-re-releasing the same albums over and over again, knowing full well that all the die hards that really were there when he was off the public radar already had all that stuff. Announcing all sorts of projects to get publicity that always get scrapped [e.g. the interactive concert where fans can pick songs he'll perform, crystal ball 2, madhouse 24 (pick a version), roadhouse garden... the list goes on...] How many fans stuck around in hopes that one of these would see the light of day? I know I have, but I've always maintained that being a prince fan is like being in an abusive relationship... when it's good, it's really good, but when it's bad.. .Look OUT!

and... (wait... let me get up on my soap box)...

If prince truly has thousands of songs plus who knows how many perfect quality concerts and music videos in his vault, what the fuck is he waiting for? Being generous, he'll live 55 more years, as will a great majority of the people who give a shit about his music. After he's dead, what good will it do him if his records sell a trillion copies or zero? Think about it, only considering the amount of bootlegs on the market, if he released one in perfect quality per year (and never recorded another note again), he'd have enough music to release through his death. He's a jackass with very bad business sense. He has the potential to make some kick ass music though. And more importantly, if the majority of his fans didn't have such bad tunnel vision (and I am just as guilty of it as some of you people!), they would abandon the dude, since he clearly cares about one person only and it sure ain't the fans.

"Was It Worth It" was a very nice extended mix...but where two mixes of "DJ Culture" necssary? Really? I think the best remaster bonus disc (the one I go back to the most, anyway) is "Bilingual", also a great album. I paid the most for that one but it was worth it. I love "The Truck Driver and His Mate" along with "Hit and Miss" and "Delusion of Granduer"...good stuff!

And where would you recommend finding the "Seriously" remix single? Is that the kind of song you could find as a download on a pay site (I'd buy it for a dollar). Any place on the net good for selling old singles cheap...let me guess...Ebay!

Looking at the Behaviour bonus disc again...you are right, it could have been better. There is much repitition between it and the B-Sides comp. They could have added Bet SHe's not your GF ext...and the ext of This must be the place...

My favorite Bonus is the Very Disk. Many of the B-Sides could have been singles etc. It was a very prolific period for them round then...with Relentless being one of my very favorites by them.

The remix of Seriously can be found on the CD single of where the streets have no name. There was also an exclusive vinyl they came out with that is THAT version...but it's vinyl. My friend at one point DJ'd and collected their stuff, so that's how I know. And yes..try e-bay.

See, I was right! Well it seems like all the bonus discs besides "Bilingual" are filled with b-sides, which are all on "Alternative"...which is why I have yet to buy for that very reason. The "Very" bonus disc is filled with b-sides (lots of good ones) but alos has "Ab Fab" and a nice and very different remix of "Wouldn't Normally...". I don't understand why they didn't add all of "Relentles" on there, though. Is that "bonus" album worth it's hefty price tag?

Oh this is SO not going to get into a P bashing session. Prince does NOT gouge his fan base. He has never re-re-re-released anything. And how do scrapped projects translate into gouging?

Anyway, my comment about PSB was misconstured. WHat I was saying was that PSB seem to respect thier fan base by only releasing stuff in small batches. But thier fans are very demanding...they want them to release all of the concerts, tour tour tour (which they don't that much)...heck they even were requesting that Nightlife get re-issued when it had comeout only a few years back. PSB, however don't give in to too much pressure on this stuff. That was my point.

I think most of the fans would have preferred Relentless to be the bonus as opposed to what it was. Though it would have (sort of) messed with the consistancy of the releases.

BTW...Relentless is going to see a release...however another Very Relentless package would be very welcome nod I LOVED that double bubble wrapping. The whole concept was very cool.

I'd have to admit to being a huge PSB fan, though I've got nothing after 'very relentless' (in the bubble pack!) since when I got married, my record buying came to a screeching halt. (starting to pick up again, though, gotta get me some of the newer stuff). My favorite is behaviour (is there anything newer along those lines?)

Biligual is a favorite (and you can buy the regular editoin dirt cheap used!) but I'm not sure if it's "along those lines". I have "Release" and it's more emtional like "Behavoir" but the music isn't as catchy. I don't own "Nightlife" so I can't judge that. I would go give a listen to "PopArt" and catch up on the many singles you've missed.

nod that's what I did...and was able to get back into them.

I agree with the above comments on Release. Pretty...but not as catchy. Home and Dry, London and a few others are really good. Nightlife is Very pt 2. again good...not as catchy. That's how they are now. Good...but not as catchy.
