Remember this old skool slow jam?

"Silly" by Deniece Williams! I just remember being really young and hearing that song on the radio all of the time. Haven't heard it in years though. Whatever happened to her anyway? I know she started doing gospel a while back but I havn't heard about her for years now.

At one point in my life This Is Niecy was the most important album for me to buy and hear. Let's Hear It For The Boy is the only thing I can remember from her now.

This is Niecy is a great album cover!!!!!

I like it when Niecy comes up here. smile Silly is a beautiful song, and probably one that best shows off her vocal talent. I get steamed when people talk about Whitney or Mariah having the best voice and wonder if they've ever heard anything of Deniece Williams' outside of that dreadful Let's Hear It for the Boy.

Deniece primarily sings gospel these days, but she occasionally performs at those "Super Oldies" R&B shows that take place here on the West Coast.I saw her a few years ago,she performed "God Is Amazing" (acapella), "It's Gonna Take A Miracle","Silly","Let's Hear It For The Boy" and a wonderful version of her debut hit "Free".

I completely forgot about "black butterfly". It's amazing how she never gets mentioned as a great singer but as someone said before on this thread they've probably never heard of her.

Well, the younger orgers probably wouldn't know about her b/c they were just being born or weren't born when some of her stuff was coming out. I remember Bl;ack Butterfly coming out in the 80's and Free coming out in the mid 70's.

Yeah, it really was. There's a great "classic soul" station here in Boston, the only problem being that it's on an AM station that shuts off after dark. mad
