Give it up for Guy!

The first Guy cd is the shit. Just about every song off that cd rocks. I'm thinking of buying a copy today as I haven't heard it for so long. Groove me, and Teddy's jam are the jam! biggrin

Everyone did. lol

Especially after he disbanded Public Announcement, shaved his head bald and started carrying around a cane and singing about getting freaky.

I LOVE GUY!

I love the 12" "spend the night" remix

"we can.....we can.....we can,we can, we can, we can....."

U must go over to my signature plug website. Look at the main page. U can see Guy and wrecks n effect interview!

http://www.njs4ever.com/latest.html

Just scroll downa little.....

As I keep saying, Teddy and Pharrel have same sorta career.

Guy are to what N.E.R.D are now. Except Guy are alot better.

I actually prefer "the future", their second album. The beats are harder and have more variety.

Teddy basically invented newjackswing, (though not the phrase). Of course Newjack is a melting pot of other styles of music that u cannot pinpoint it really.

I prefer Keith Sweat "Make it last forever" over guys first.

I vaguely remember the track "the future" but I don't think that album did as well as the first one. Myabe I should check it out. I wouldn't mind hearing some harder beats. Yup, yup, Teddy Riley is the original Pharell!

Love Guy & NJS, but honestly think that Teddy & Pharrell shouldn't B compared 2 1 another. Pharrell's music is definately more diverse. Hasn't he already got a longer lastin' career than Teddy?

& uuhm, back then there was nuttin' new about NJS. Just listen 2 Zan's "Straight Up Nasty" which is TOTALLY based on Soul Makossa (1972). No dif'rence in sound can B found there.

Spend The Night Extended 12" and Round & Round (Merry Go Round Of Love) 12".

Everytime I would see a single from Cheapo from that album I ran and bought that sucka.

That album IS EXPLOSIVELY NEW JACKED UP!!! Teddy really did sum numbers on the wekid.
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

thats a tough one I guess but teddy does turn up in some odd places (tom jones?)

Newjackswing is SO influential on todays music. Newjack was a melting pot of what was before. Newjack saved rnb. rnb just before then was generally stale and adult contemporary.

He is. Teddy's still producing, been doing it for 20 years now. Pharrell, who got his start through Teddy, has enjoyed more success, though. $$$$$

thumbs up! Except the invention of NJS should be credited to none other than worship FULL FORCE worship Funky hip-hop beats, smooth harmonies, orchestra hits, rapping, melodic fills...FF started it. Jam & Lewis, Teddy, LA Reid and Babyface, Dallas Austin, and Devante Swing took notice. Janet's Control lp sounds like it could have been produced by FF, as well as Guy and Jodeci.
NewJack Swing as we know it hasn't disappeared, but evolved into what you see riding the Billboard charts for the last 7 years.

nod Oh Shit. Don't get me started on some Full Force b/c they definitely used to be me boys. Of course now, they basically write stuff for those chessy Pop acts now. But they most definitely were they the shit back in the 80's no doubt and were in full effect in the place to be.
