I think I'm up to about 5 or 6 track that I like. like i said before, if i were you i'd just burn those tracks onto a cd with the few tracks you did like from the other records that you didn't like. it would be too much of a pain in the ass for me to constantly hit the skip button. especially if you know you're not going to like the songs.

If it hasn't grown on me by now, it won't ever. I know that for a fact. I played it last night to see if I could get into it and it made me sleepy. It's not a bad album, I just can't get into it. Never say never.

SassyBritches said: she's definitely past her commercial peak. i don't think she'll be selling out arenas anytime soon, the way she did with choirgirl. notwithstanding, there are some catchy, even pop sounding, songs on the record. if norah jones can have success and josh groban can be a commercial success (though i'll never know why) i think some of these songs have potential. on top 40? no. adult contemporary, however, may have a place for her on their playlists. a sorta fairytale was a huge hit for her so i don't see why it couldn't happen here. Nora Jones and Josh Groban came in as new artists and there was a lot of hype around them. I don't think they'll last. I have no idea how popular or how much play this album is gonna get, but it definitely won't be hitting the mainstream. Plus, I don't see her gaining any new fans with this one. The songs aren't catchy enough to get new fans. The first time I started to have interest in her was when I saw the video for God. Then I became a major fan when I saw the video for Spark. I think those songs were much harder hitting and attention getting. The Beekeeper seems to be more of an album for fans who have already been around for a while. There's always the 'programme' button. To be fair, it's a little too soon for me to comment on the quality of her new album as it's only been out a week, but it's lacking the passion of her earlier work, that I can say for definate. Some of it is very nice, I just don't think many of the tracks would make it on to a personal compilation. Sweet The Sting, Sleeping With Butterflies, The Beekeeper and Hoochie Woman would probably squeeze through, tho'. Once again, I'm really happy for her that she's in a better place mentally. However, I hope one day she returns with the angst that coloured her best work. There's other things to get pissed about with the passing of time, surely! . [Edited 2/26/05 8:30am]

EWM invites friends over for cheese and wine? I haven't yet, but I may if I keep listening to this album. I figure the music would be suitable. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

The same thing happened here in NYC. I missed it by seconds. Hopefully they'll add a second show like they sometimes do. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

Yes, this is only the first U.S. leg featuring just Tori on the piano. When the European leg of the tour is over, she'll come back to the states for a full tour with a full band in bigger venues. I did notice that there is an extra day off between the NY and Philadelphia dates so another NY show could still be added.

Have you ever seen her solo? I've seen her solo during the first leg of the Under The Pink tour. It was strange becuase she used backing tracks for "God" and "Cornflake Girl".

this is the test i'm waiting for. as of now, for me, this new one is on par with pele. i admit, though, this may be due to the whole newness of it all. by the summer i will have a much better feel for the record; i'll have deconstructed the record by then and acually have tried to get inside all of the songs. as of now i've listened to the the whole record several dozen times but, other than a few tracks, i haven't really tried to figure the songs out. part of why i love pele so much is because even (almost) ten years later i'm still trying to figure some of those tracks out, lol. as far as early impressions go, though, i'm loving the way she has incorporated betrayal into so many different aspects of life. its a very smart record and it seems pretty sincere and honest.

I'll tell u this.. it sometimes takes over a year for me.. maybe two or three to wrap around and apreciate an album. Take Ben Folds- Rock'n The Suburbs,, I first bought it, i dug it and got tired of it.. wasnt too impressed with it.. now it is by no doubt in my mind one of my favorite pop albums of all time.
