Does anyone actually own Spice Girls FOREVER (1998) I've only heard two tracks from that album " Goodbye" and "Holler," both of which I like...but I'm curious as to why the album was a commerical flop... Let the rain come down...17 days.... | |

Somebody, please, alert endorphin74. I'm sure he has it.  I had their first two albums and they were a lot of fun, but never went for this one. I think it flopped because it was after Old Spice left the group and people were tiring of them. | |

I got for my sister that "Christmas" and she wasn't thrilled...also, it should be noted that it was released on 2000, so three years after their last release! I listened to it and boy...maybe you liked the first two albums but this one was a clunker. That release so long after their relavancy was probably why it flopped. Add to that the fact that they wanted to work with hip AMERICAN R&B producers and it just didn't work. [Edited 2/24/05 11:18am] | |

I personally LOVE "Forever." I liked the production. The songs were a bit more mature than their initial releases. Certain Spices (Baby) showed real growth in their vocal abilities. But, yup, it bombed. I think the key piece was the long wait between SpiceWorld and Forever. The US audience had long since moved on (most of them into puberty) and the Girls just weren't relevant anymore. | |

I bought it.
Yes I BOUGHT IT. It flopped cuz 1. Geri wasnt there. 2. It was a very R&B album. It followed the same lavish lame sound of R&B at that time. So u know all them suburban teen girls cuouldnt get with that ya know? Plus it wasnt all that Plus the Spice Girls were gettin kinda tired by then and people moved on to Britney and Christina. Holler Love Lead The Way Goodbye If U Wanna Have Some Fun are exceptional trax though. But the album really sounds dated even for that time it did. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

lol actually it was rumoured last year! i give it another 5 years or so. baby's career is not doing so bad in europe and geri is doing alright as well. i think mel c might be doing ok but i'm not sure...could've just been that one song. either way, by 2010 we're gonna get a massive 90's comeback and i'm hoping the spice girls take advantage of it. upon reading that back to myself, it looks kind of sad doesn't it... | |

Mel C's career seems to be going OK. Her first album was critically acclaimed, and she had a huge dance hit with "I Turn To You". Mel B just flopped! Shockingly, though....Victoria is the new queen of England, despite a questionable recording career (although I really liked her solo album). She became the most famous Spice girl! And there is suppose to be a Greatest Hits set coming out this Fall but I'm not sure if there will be any new tracks...We can hope. [Edited 2/24/05 21:36pm] | |

also I'm a big fan of Mel C. her sophomore album Reason is one of my favorites. and she is currently getting ready for a 3rd album. http://www.melaniec.net/ and play the new track "Next Big Superstar" off of her upcoming album "Beautiful Intentions" Emma's cd is too campy to survive in America. Ironically I saw the "holla" video this morining. It was one he 100 worst video list on vh1.
I swear it sounds like a Rodney Jerkins production? Am I missing something? Sounded very different from "stop" etc..... I hadn't heard it for years. Oddly I would proberly be able to recall all spice girls singles as they were pretty much very irritatingly catchy and cheesy and girls at school used to keep perfroming their stupid routines in the playgrounds and talent shows etc..... If some of u like Spice gils , then u should love Billy piper. I don't thik she broke america but its the same slick sorta stuff.

Not only will I admit to owning this album -- I'll admit to liking it as well. Geri Halliwell's departure only really affected the band visually (she's hardly an especially gifted singer). IMO it's the strongest Spice Girls release -- it has more of an edge, and it's funkier. | |

It's not as fun--more adult and funkier, but perhaps too American sounding. A Europop sound would have sold better internationally. Rodney produced a few tracks on the CD. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis also contributed two songs. | |
