Pharell-- Yea or nay?

I'm dying to know what the org thinks of him musically-- I noticed that y'all dont speak on him much though.

For me, he has his moments.

What say you all?

The Neptunes have done some interesting stuff over the years, but they've yet to stray too far from their sound. That processed acoustic guitar is in half of their productions and the other half has that cheap drum sound.

the production for others may lack at times
but your humble bnarrator is a huge fan

I don't understand all the praise he's getting
I could do the same he does with a synthesizer,a sampler
and a drumcomputer , nothing to it

And i could play all the instruments by myself and sing
all the songs he did with NERD

You should be a millionare then. smile

Seriously, I've been digging neptunes since they laced that track for Mystical. I could tell then that them cats were thinking outside the box. They have disappointed me many times, though I understand that their goal is to make every track hit on the charts, so they dumb things down a bit to conform to the beast. I would love to hear some of their experimental stuff, you know the stuff they're afraid to let their friends hear, I know that shit is banging!

talented, but he seems to have peaked creatively a couple of years ago.

He can still turn out a hit, but I haven't heard anything from him/the Neptunes in a minute that made me really take notice. They seem to be coasting now, imo.

Are we talking about him, as in is he a looker? He's a'ight. Or are we talking about The Neptunes/NERD as a production team? Cuz it's not a solo act, he gets a good deal of help. I like their work, but it's getting old. They need to change it up some.

Slave 4 U is basically Vanity 6's 'Nasty Girl' so we can thank Prince for that. The Neptunes did do some good stuff: ODB's 'Got Your Money', No Doubt's 'Hella Good' and some other tunes. I hate the stuff from Jay Z, but that's mainly because I find Jay Z the most overrated rapper around.
'In Search Off....' is a good album because it's raw, 'Fly Or Die' never did it for me.

Pharell is overexposed, I agree with Dewrede!

I like a lot of their productions, although it starts to get tired a bit. Still The Neptunes are cool in my eyes, they make good top 40 music. And yes, Pharell is overexposed I think...

If he must sing, why can't he just lend his vocals and not appear in the video? We already know it's him. It was cute the first few times but now I must admit it's annoying. You didn't see Michael poppin' up in Somebody's Watching Me.

He is a modern-day Prince; he mixes up styles and makes them his own.

So I gotsto love him. Being arrogant is part of it. Prince was arrogant too.
