Some more opinions and observations on 'TGIF'...

***I don't like the version of "Last Dance" that Donna sings in the movie. It sounds like a hastily arranged rough demo, without all the "polish" and power of the album version. The song was recorded in the summer of 1977,and filming began soon thereafter. So maybe that's why it sounds rushed?

***when are they gonna release this film on DVD?? I have an old VHS copy that was released in 1989.It's by a company called Good Time video. The picture quality is atrocious and the sound is even worse. If they can put those crappy "Breakin" movies on DVD,then they should be able to do the same for 'TGIF'.

several of the actors in 'TGIF' later went on to greater fame in the 80s...

***Terri Nunn became the lead singer of the band Berlin ("Take My Breath Away")

***Jeff Goldblum became a respected actor with several hit films ("The Fly")

***Debra Winger went on to co-star with John Travolta in "Urban Cowboy".

***sadly, actor Ray Vitte (who plays DJ "Bobby Speed") died in 1983.

***Paul Jabara, who wrote "Last Dance" and appears in the film as a nerd, died in 1992.

Yep! Yeah, Ray Vitte was also in Car Wash and Cheech and Chong's "Up In Smoke". He was a very good actor. A promising career.

In some ways,'TGIF' was a sequel of sorts to "Car Wash".Two of the guys from "Car Wash" appear in 'TGIF'....this time with better jobs, lol.I guess they left the car wash behind lol

I have to admit I loved both movies. Notice I didn't say films. TGIF was hilarious to me, at the time. Does anybody remember if the song TOO HOT TO TROT - COMMODORES was in the movie. I loved that song.

SNF was really nasty to me. I was really young when it came out and I was embarassed to watch it. It seemed like a XXX movie to me at the time. Especially that scene with the girl who played the lead star in the sitcom ANGIE. I can't think of her name, oh yeah Donna Pescow.

You know it. Hey, Car Wash had so many great dynamics as far as the actors were concerned. That WAS L.A. at that time and there is no doubt that the producers wanted to recreate that vibe in Thank God.

I totally agree! I was only 8 years old when I first saw it,and it was kinda "shocking" to me,lol.Alot of sex and rough language.I remember when they edited out the dirty scenes and re-released the film to theatres, this time with a "PG" rating. This was a few months after the original version came out.
