"Guero" new BECK due March 28th Here's a little review of the new Beck stuff coming out. Some friends of mine have seen him performing cuts from this new CD all over town (LA) - I haven't caught a show yet but I am looking to.
GHETTOCHIP MALFUNCTION Beck is at it again with a new EP called Hell Yes, a blipping, buzzing portent of his upcoming album Guero (which means "white boy" in Spanish). I discovered the EP on iTunes just now, and subsequently freaked out and clicked the "Buy Now" button so quickly that I think I broke some kind of land-speed record. There was a thunderous rumble, and then the sound of breaking glass. I think I may have blacked out momentarily. If the final sound of the album, due in March, is anything like the four tracks on iTunes, I'm going to totally love it. It's possible that the four tracks on iTunes are all remixes that don't resemble the final sound, but I doubt that. I can only guess that Beck must be circuit bending and using emulators, old-school software and other modified equipment to create these sounds, because they are incredibly authentic. I doubt it's anything like the cover of the EP (on the right), showing a guy plugging his GameBoy into a stack of amps, but it's a great mental picture. VOTE....EARLY

Seriously, dude? I like Midnight Vultures - though, not as much as Odelay. Sea Change is good also - very melancholic and accoustic. He always offers up something different - he's a very diverse artist. He's gonna be at the Henry Fonda in Hollywood tomorrow night and it's sold out [I missed him at Spaceland - which is right down the street from me - and him, he lives in my 'hood) - I've already called my music industry "peeps" to see if I can get a ticket VOTE....EARLY

Remixes.. 4 of them. They have gameboy based sounds on them.. nothing like the real songs on the real guero album

'Midnite Vulture' is great. So funky and intense. It's the first abum I bought of Beck's and I love it. 'Hollywood Freaks' and 'Nicotine and gravy' are two of my favourite cuts.
'Sea change' is a beautiful, aching, melancholy piece. A complete departure, but still very high quality. I can't wait for 'Guero'. I can't believe I only 'discovered' Beck 2 months ago. Major 'DUH', Dunce Hat in the corner job for me. Peace Mr7
