Talking Heads News!

...no, they're not getting back together. Sorry. lol

BUT!

I just looked on the Heads/Tom Tom Club web site that Tina & Chris post on quite frequently (or at least, they used to - it's been a while since I checked out the forums over there), and saw that not only did the "Once in a Lifetime" box set get a Grammy for art direction (which it deserved - it's gorgeous), but...

Talking Heads 2-DVD set?
Posted Tuesday, 15 February, 2005 by francey
In an interview with the Australian magazine "Drum magazine", David Byrne confirmed the upcoming reissues of Talking Heads albums with bonus track, and also made an announcement about a 2-DVD set with Talking Heads TV appearances ("including some BBC and Channel 4 specials that have not bene seen").

No work on release date or exact specs yet.

I'm hoping that all of this is leading up to a remaster of the entire catalog. At this point, I don't even care if they give us extras, I just want to hear Remain in Light in 5.1 Surround Sound. Hell, I just wanna hear Remain in Light without having to turn my stereo up to 11.

Good sign is always when a supposed song downloads in like 2 seconds... they're samples. Sorry.

nope. it's just stuff that david byrne's been saying off-handedly in interviews so far.

It'd be nice if they got the double disc treatment like The Cure.

i bet a couple of them will, but most of them won't. i don't know that the heads have as much in their vaults or as many rarities as the cure have...though i could be mistaken, and i hope i am. smile

Do they have a lot of b-sides, non-album stuff, etc.?

not really. they have some remixes, and there have been some outtakes and demo recordings on their best-of anthologies...but it's not like with prince or bowie or the cure, where it seems like there's just tons of non-album extras to be had.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what extra goodies they add. I'm sure DB's got something up his sleeve.

I hope there's concrete news soon though. I've been itching to move past the few albums I own and Sand in the Vaseline.

Well, the earlier ones are pretty good; Have you heard the 12" of Houses in Motion? Different vocal line, etc...

I also like the Jellybean Benitez/Byrne 12" mixes of Making Flippy Floppy and Slippery People. Pretty cool mid-80's mixes, if a little predictable.

Most of the post-Speaking in Tongues remixes are just alright, though. The shittiest part is that these are the ones that are out on CD.
