I fucking love the B52s! They created the best party rock to come out of the 80s. They're proof positive that you don't need a redundant, generic house or disco beat to dance. Planet Claire, 52 Girls and Rock Lobster are my favorites of theirs. I don't think their music was quite as good after the passing of Ricky Wilson [Edited 2/23/05 12:41pm]

Rock Lobster was a song I dug when I was a kid BIGTIME! So, from that, I got into to them. Have a few of their albums. Yeah, I like em'. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him." http://ccoshea19.googlepa...ssanctuary http://ccoshea19.googlepages.com

Ahh, you got me spinnin' Whammy! now...
Never understood the critical drubbing this album took; I love it to death. Also never understood why they were forced to take the Yoko song off the album, I thought John and Yoko loved the 2's. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Well, be that as it may, the fact that an entire generation boils the entire career of the B's down to Love Shack and their brief stint as The BC-52's irks me. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

The Cosmic Thing album was my only exposure to them. Not enough to make me a fan though. Fred Schneider cruised me once.

It was enough to make me go out and buy their entire back catalog. That doesn't happen too often.

Axchi696 - what's the story behind the John/Yoko track??? The original pressings of Whammy! had 'Don't Worry Kyoto' where 'Moon '83' is currently, but the band had to remove it when they started pressing it on disc. I always thought it was strange, because I know that John Lennon called the B-52's his favorite band, and I think Yoko shared the same opinion. I'm not sure if she was the reason the song had to be removed, or if it was because of a publishing company. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Last I heard they were trying to have a new album out by Summer 2005. I hope it's true!
Their last studio album "Good Stuff" was released in 1992(without Cindy Wilson). A Hits collection came out in 1998.
