Disco will always have a home on the ipod. Because I love the nightlife. And I've got to boogie.

i love all that. donna summer's 'on the radio' album has been one of my favorites since i was a little boy.

My ultimate disco jam is probably Supernature by Cerrone.

I consider those people to be R&B, they got mixed into that disco thing because of the era. Bee Gess pre date disco, I consider them to be pop, not disco. I love that stuff, however you wanna define it.

No, you're not the only one. I'm with you all the way! Disco was my first love, so to speak. It's the music that was out when I first got heavily into music. It also influenced what I listened to after it died. I loved disco so much that when it died, I swayed more in the direction of funk rather than rock because the funk in the early 1980s was uptempo and danceable, just like disco was. I got into house music in the late 1980s and early 1990s because it reminded me of a reincarnation of disco. To me, disco never really died, it still had small influences in music that followed it for years. That's why I get pissed with today's music because there's nothing uptempo for the dance floor, except for underground techno (which is too repetitive), and it seems that now, disco has finally died. Andy is a four letter word.

No. I LOVE IT. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

Nope, you're not the only one I love disco.I was a child of the 70s so naturally,I grew up on that music. In my opinion, the late 70s disco era (76,77,78 and 79) was the most thrilling era for music.Disco was exciting, fun and very positive.Nobody was talking about being a "gangsta",and carrying a gun.It was music that made you feel alive! I used to listen to the radio constantly in those days, and it was fun watching a new disco song come out,and then blow up and become a smash.I have fond memories of the summer of 1978,when I bought my first 45 single---Andy Gibb's "Shadow Dancing".My sister and I spent much of that summer calling radio stations, requesting the long version of Donna Summer's "Last Dance",lol.I will forever be a disco fanatic, and I am proud to admit it. Aye! And their mid to late seventies stuff was R&B/funk/soul based anyway. Not disco.

Aye! And their mid to late seventies stuff was R&B/funk/soul based anyway. Not disco. The Bee Gees have often argued that, beginning in the mid-70s,they were doing R&B,not disco.Back then,it was hard to differentiate between a "disco song" and a "soul/R&B" song anyway.

speaking of the Bee Gees, how come no one ever mentions these great songs...
"Boogie Child" (1976) "Lovers" (1976) "Reaching Out" (1979)

I'm going through a period right now though where I just can't listen to disco at all. I feel like I've played it all out in the past few years, and I need a break from it. I'm sure that will pass in time though. In the meantime, I'll continue to watch the best song/video ever made..... http://www.prince.org/msg/7/134348 "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

some of my memories of the disco era...
***In the summer of 1979,nobody was hotter than Donna Summer. Her 'Bad Girls' album was unstoppable, and everybody was playing it.You know how on the album, the song "Hot Stuff" segues into "Bad Girls"? Our local R&B radio station (KSOL) always played the two songs together. As if that wasn't enough, another local station (devoted exclusively to disco music) frequently played another pair of songs that segued into each other: "Dim All The Lights"/Journey To The Center Of Your Heart". ***Diana Ross attempted this same trick in 1979.She released a 12" single containing two tracks---"No One Gets The Prize" and "The Boss"---that neatly segue into each other. ***who remembers the excitement of hearing the 'Saturday Night Fever' soundtrack for the first time? We got it a week after seeing the movie, and we treated it like it was gold, lol. It was really hard to get past Side One,those songs are incredible! ***For Christmas 1978,I got Chic's second album 'C'est Chic',which is still one of my favorite disco albums ever."I Want Your Love" is musical bliss. ***Seriously, even the bad disco songs sound like masterpieces compared to the crap that is polluting the airwaves these days! I'll take a KC and the Sunshine Band album over a 50 Cent CD anyday [Edited 2/23/05 3:57am]

That's the way I've been about house music lately. The only time I listen to house anymore is when I have friends over and that's all they want to hear. Andy is a four letter word.
