Payola at a Clear Channel Station. (PD fired for taking money to play CD) Sandra Robinson, a gospel program director for Clear Channel’s WGRB-AM in Chicago, was fired over evidence of a payola scheme, reports the “Chicago Sun-Times.” Sources told the paper’s Robert Feder that while Robinson was away on medical leave, someone called the station wanting to know why a specific song hadn’t been played. An ensuing investigation revealed that Robinson's husband, Nelson Robinson, was an independent promoter with ties to a gospel label promotion company called Connected Productions. Feder's sources say that payments were made somewhere along the way to ensure airplay for songs.  I pretty sure Clear Channel is paying off more than just a Gospel station. Hell, Britney Speres is proof of that. Hopefully, the truth will see the light of day. Of course, the revelution will not be televised. | |

Was she playing Usher...Even though a gospel station is only small potatoes and not the big offender when it comes to payola, it's still good that she is gone. Good riddance. Connected, indeed! | |

Wasn't Limp Bizkit one of the first "legit" payola bands? I'm pretty sure that when Faith broke, there was something on MTV about pay-for-play and they used good ol' Durst as an example. I'm the first mammal to wear pants. | |
