I love this album. It has so much vibrant energy, pain and emotion. It really resonates with me after the year I've had.

Plus, "In The Backseat" is a total Vespertine knock off.

Arcade Fire are just one of a long list of absolutely amazing Canadian groups. Here is a short list for the rest of you to feast on.
Godspeed You Black Emperor Below the Sea Beef Terminal Readymade Kids These Days Black Mountain Broken Social Scene Do Make Say Think Caribou (formerly known as Manitoba) Stars That should get you folks south of the 49th started down the road to musical revelation. All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.

Sure they are a bunch of hipsters, but who cares. The music is killer. Best band in Canada right now has got to be Readymade. Their new record "All the Plans Resting" is released on Where Are My Records. A nice label out of Montreal. These guys are out of Vancouver BC baby!!!!! All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.

You know, sometimes a hype is created for the wrong reasons, other times a hype comes to live for just one reason; the music is good. White Stripes and Franz Ferdinand both were hyped, but that was just. The Arcade Fire is somewhat different, as this is not a band that you will see playing stadiums, like TWH and FF are capable of. TAF is an intimate band. The fact that every article you see seems copied straight off allmusic.com says enough. These people communicate through their music. I like that. I am so glad I will be able to see them live in a small venue... same as where I saw Bjork for the first time, couldn't be happier.

I have to admit: After adjusting my expectations a bit (and falling asleep with it on headphones last night), it's growing on me... I love "Wake Up."

The first songs that caught me were Rebellion and In The Back Seat. The first one just has the drive I love and In The Back Seat has the lyrics that chill me.

Plus, it's so totally Vespertine! To me, liking music always has to be a holy trinity; music; voice; lyrics. Not many artists/bands pull that off. Bjork is one. Prince 1980/1988 is another. The Cure, most stuff. Franz Ferdinand. Kate Bush. Tori Amos, often. Franz had something going for them; their vibe. I needed that two years ago. This year I needed The Arcade Fire. It's really has been the soundtrack to my life of last year...

I also have a soft place in my heart for Une Année Sans Lumiere, as it is such a dreamlike song and the images it creates just take me elsewhere.
It kind of combines all the things I love about this bandl the male/female vocals, the english/french lyrics, the music... And Haiti... love that as well. Oh heck, I love the entire album. AND I GOT TICKETS! I GOT TICKETS! I GOT TICKETS!
