So Now I Come To You...

...with Opennn Ar-ye-arms!!....

I freakin' HATE BangAllOverYou... mad...Was listening to his stinkin' mix he made for the contest, and this mushy song from rock hell came on...and I instantly was transported back to college, with milk crates as bookshelves and the smell of marijuana lingering in the hallways and polyester chairs in the lounge while watching David Letterman and my first gf (Michelle) and ordering from Dominos at 2am and hearing the song all over again while watching the movie "Heavy Metal" at the movie theatre...

err err err

What songs do you hear that instantly and vividly take you back to certain points in your life?? And do they make you cringe as they do like "Open Arms" does for me... lol

Anything off of Rid of Me (PJ Harvey) reminds me of living in the dorms my first year in college.

Portishead's first album reminds me of the summer I turned 21 and lived in Madison, Wisconsin (though it was only for a few months) and did nothing but create new outfits every day, go to the library and go out every night.

Old school hip-hop like Run DMC, LL Cool J remind me of high school and going to house parties, dancing and scoping guys. Fun times.
Early eighties music like "She blinded Me With Science, Hungry Like The Wolf" remind of junior high 8th grade - horrible horrible memories of being teased, bullied and very unhappy. mad I can't even listen to that stuff now - turn it off at first note of any of it.

Open Arms gives me the willies. I dunno why. That song goes into a category I deemed "old people do-it music" when I was younger. It fits in there with songs like:

Can't Fight This Feeling - REO Speedwagon
I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner
The Lady in Red - Chris De Burgh
