70's R&B Album Cut Of The Day: Natalie Cole-LaCosta(1977)

My favorite Natalie Cole song!!!!! This is a masterful song ...period!!! That piano intro, the sounds of the waves on the seashore
coupled with a great horn arrangement. I always thought that Capitol Records should have released this song as a singleInstead it was the B-side of the single Our Love. This one is from the album Thankul which has a great album cover (with a canvas painting of Natalie Cole [posing on the beach). I like how Natalie semi-scat her vocals on this chorus. This song is so smooth
and delicate.

This song along with Evelyn King's The Show Is Over from Smooth Talk were my favorite album cuts that I was playing during 1978.

Yes...Annie Mae was released as a single. Man this just takes me back to 1977 and 1978..when my parents would buy all of those great 70's albums and play them on the stereo once they got home from work My folks were playing great albums like

Issac Hayes- For The Sake Of Love
Ashford And Simpson- Is It Still Good To Ya?
Teddy Pendergrass-Life Is A Song Worth Singing
Evelyn King- Smooth Talk
Natalie Cole-Thankful
Jerry Butler- Nothing Says I Love You Like I Love You
O'Jays-So Full Of Love..(my mom used to wear that one out.. biggrin )

And I had started collecting 45's to play on my small stereo
stuff like.....

Stargard-Which Way Is Up
Barkays- Let's Have Some Fun
Taste Of Honey-Boogie Oogie Oogie
Parliament- Flashlight
Barkays-Shake Your Rump To The Funk
Bee Gees- Stayin Alive
Heatwave-The Groove Line

And my parents gave me The Commodores Live!!! for Christmas in 1977.

Great music..wouldn't you agree???

Ok, so this is the truth. I was sitting in my car this past Saturday listening to the "Thankful" album and thinking how great of a song LaCosta is, and for every reason you listed BRO915. That album is a classic and was my favorite of Natalie's. Those were the days.
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.
