YOKO ONO turns 72 tomorrow

like, wow.... 72. And still performing live... and putting out dance singles.

How many other 72 year-olds are putting out dance singles???

I ask you.

say what you want about her (and i know some of you will), but for my money...

this album is absolutely fantabulously brilliant.

She has kept back loadsa lennon recordings apparantly. Not that I care but that is mean on the fans.

Sounds like quite the manipulator.

As far as music goes.....errrrr no.

well, at least a yoko thread made it to two posts before the bashing began...that may be a world wide web record!!! lol

for those of you who can't see beyond the media cliches and the bitter beatle-fan profiling, it's your loss. nod

"poor john"? he died in the arms of the woman he loved. she may not be a saint, but she made him happy. was that wrong of her to do?

I just can't see beyond the majorly shitty music.

And, oh, yeah, she's a total bitch, too.

Not a fan of Yoko's music, but I do think that her exhibitions are definitely interesting. I always liked her instruction pieces, too:

Count all the stars of that night by heart. The piece ends when all the orchestra members finish counting the stars, or when it dawns. This can be done with windows instead of stars.

And say what you will about her, but you can't deny that John loved her.

what did she do to those people? because i know people (from my previous life as a new yorker) who have met her and they said it was a wonderful experience.

and does having a wacky voice make you a bad person? if so, morrissey and bob dylan's marathon 5-hour cover of "enough is enough" will be the first thing i hear in hell.

Perhaps she won't make 73 (fingers crossed).

For those who dont know why she's often so hated...do a little research on the events surrounding John Lennons funeral...then you'll get an insight into one of the main reasons (in my opinion)

whatevs. never mind her efforts with keeping john's killer behind bars while holding true to john's anti-death penalty beliefs. never mind the positive things she's said and done. i've noticed that people who hate on yoko feel like they have to commit to it, like it's some kind of investment that allows them to make cheap, easy jokes at parties or whatever. i can't compete with that, so i'll leave you guys to talk shit about an old lady in an internet thread ostensibly created to recognize her birthday.

like she needs your money anyway. lol

Besides, John Lennon was hardly a saint, either. Leaving his wife, abandoing his first son, taking credit for Beatles songs he didn't write...shall I go on?

Yeah, but at least he could:

b) make good music

So I forgive him razz

I have no problem with the solo stuff. I have a problem with the constant milking of the JL tracks. Put them out or not. Don't tease.

i personally think she's done a pretty good job w/ John's music. The fans want every scrap, and that is what she is trying to do, in the best way possible.

And i'm a huge fan of her music as well.

I forget who said it, but it bears repeating: "There's a reason why the coolest guy in the world fell in love with her."

Go Yoko!!! May you be putting out dance remixes well into your 90's!

I only own 1 album."mr jordan" i think it was called. Really poppy too. I think it had Modonna's main producer on it? I can vaguely remember "open your eyes" for some reason? may have to dig it out again.....

i found it at a car boot sale. In England, these can be great to find very cheap rare stuff.

Well 'rumour' has it from many sources that, after his death, John Lennons family wanted him to be burried whereas Yoko wanted him to be cremated. The 2 groups couldnt agree and arranged to meet up to discuss their differences....Yoko promtly arranged for cremation the day before they arrived.

Thats what Ive heard from many places and fans, It might not be true but I guess only family would know that
