I really want to get into this group but for some reason I just can't. Their songs are catchy and Fergie has a great voice, (in fact I wouldn't mind hearing a track of hers, without the group) but there's something about them that irks me. I think it's seeing them perform. I think it's too over the top and forced. Anyone else have any opinions on this group? Maybe I can listen to them and not watch them?

I'd like to make 'em live up to their name ----->

No way! The Peas are great. There is nothing in hip hop like them. They make great records and they are not afraid to be artists. Their performaces are action packed. Its like watching popcorn pop when u were a small child. They use real instruments and Will.IAm is a genius producer. I have NOTHING bad to say about them.

I liked them when they first came out and picked up Behind the Front for their hit, Joints & Jam. I used to love that song and I loved the female vocalist who worked with them at that time and particulary had a thing for Will.I.Am. I remember Fergie from Wild Orchid and was never really crazy about her singing and I wasn't crazy about their new stuff. It seemed sort of poppy and then they just took off! I remember seeing them at a show and they performed what was then still sung as Let's Get Retarded. I hated that line and just minutes after that song a young girl who was mentally challenged or disabled was sitting in front of me. That always bothered me and I hoped she and her mother didn't hear the song. I prefer Let's Get It Started but overall they don't do anything for me anymore.

Look, we're hip hop and pop. Look, we have a woman! Look, we're fashionable even though we wear highwaters! Look how ethnically diverse we are! It all seems good on paper, but it comes off very phony. And, please, tell me how a song called Let's Get Retarded (or whatever the radio friendly/NBA version is called) is worthy of any Grammy noms!

These are some of my concerns with The Black Eyed Peas, their a real group though with an interesting history, Fergie is a new edition, but they have been around for awhile making the same sorta music. I’m not gonna hate on them just yet.

I wish some of u would get off of your high horses. Ive orgpopped several of u and many of u havent even heard their cds. Its a shame. I thought some of u had a shred of objectivity about u. Just because they have achieved a certian amount of commercial success doesnt mean that they are sellouts. At least listen to their music b4 you trash them for Christs sake. I listened to the whole Elebutt album, and heard one or two songs off Bridging the Gap. So, I've not sampled their whole canon of work, but I heard enough to know I don't like them. Okay, it does look like they're trying a bit too hard. And their obvious "diversity" smacks of pop media. Their stuff is not too dangerous, but it's kind of nice to have some clean stuff to listen to.

They don't say the F-word once on Elephunk, incredible! I'll take them over fiddy cent anyday!

I depends on which version of the album you buy. My cousin's wife really likes them and bought Elephunk, but told me that because she didn't buy the edited version in Wal-Mart, she can't play the CD in front of her kids because of a few choice words.
