Gwen Stefani's "Serious" Sorry if this has already been talked to death, but it's driving me NUTS.
Which 80's song is "Serious" ripping off? I can hear the lyrics 'this is the night' but can't for the life of me put my finger on the song title or artist. Would any one be so kind as to help restore my sanity? ~ Gretch

I don't know that it rips one off in general. It just sounds like a lot of those types of songs. It reminds me of redheaded Julie Brown, actually.

"Touch Me" by Samantha Fox. LMAO!! OMG that's it! it's 44 seconds into "Serious" the same 4 notes...I'm cryin' laughing over here. and I actually don't mind Samantha Fox (listening to it now since I had it in my collection) (now listening edit)

Those 4 orchestral synth hits are a nice nod to "Touch Me", but I don't think the whole song is a rip-off. It's my favorite track on L.A.M.B.

Yeah, it's a real pastiche of stuff, including... Note the rhythmic/sound/melody shape similarities of these 2 lines I get delirious... This love is serious...

Tends to be a lot of people's favorites...so it makes sense that "Holla Back Girl" is the next single. You think she had a deal with Dre and Neptunes that their tracks had to be singles? That the only thing that makes sense.

Serious is one of my faves on the album, but I'm glad to see Hollaback get a release. That one is my favorite track on the album. That said, I'd take Touch Me by Samantha Fox over either one of them

I love prefer her SAW and Full Force stuff and her last album "20th Century Fox" was incredible. "Touch Me" was the jam off her first album, tough.

Yeah, I'm kinda with you there. I actually like it, but in a silly throwback kind of way. It would make a lousy single, because I'm guessing it mostly appeals to those of us who were teens in the '80s...current teens, prove me wrong?
