She didn't sing it in the clichiec(sp?) operatic sense but rather in a gospel-oriented style.
I was floored, it added a very confenssing REASON about how versatile that woman is

She performed that (instead of Respect) on the first night of her 2 day stand in LA (last september).

people who annoint alicia keyes or kanye west or anybody else as the next big thing ought to reference that performance as what separates good performers from legends. it wasn't outstanding in technical value, but the fact that she could pull it off with little to no preparation speaks volumes! you look better on your facebook page than you do in person  | |
