Lord Have Mercy, Remember Aretha Franklin's Pre4mance In 98 Grammys With Her Rendition Of Puccini's "Nessun dorma"?

I still get gut-shaking shivers from remembring it, thats the VERY BEST grammys pre4mance in the 90's IMHO!

My mom loves the kind of stuff and I think I remember her thinking it was awful and she likes Aretha! Only Pavorotti can sing that song....Alright, alright...

She didn't sing it in the clichiec(sp?) operatic sense but rather in a gospel-oriented style.

I was floored, it added a very confenssing REASON about how versatile that woman is nod

Does anybody have the audio? I wanna hear it again music

She performed that (instead of Respect) on the first night of her 2 day stand in LA (last september).

It was a train wreck!

I disagree. Aretha was TOTALLY out of her element singing this song.

people who annoint alicia keyes or kanye west or anybody else as the next big thing ought to reference that performance as what separates good performers from legends. it wasn't outstanding in technical value, but the fact that she could pull it off with little to no preparation speaks volumes!
you look better on your facebook page than you do in person hmph!

Before that performance, I had no idea why they called that woman the Queen of anything, but after that I definitely understood.
