Here are some of my picks:

Britney Spears: Where do I begin with this bitch? She can't sing to say her own life and she's on the TV everytime you turn the TV on. She's fake as hell and she need's to take her husband and her little dog back to that Trailer park where she belongs.

Usher: I used to like him, but ever since Confessions came out, he always leaves me in a sour mood. First, a whole album on a breakup, that's no class at all plus his whole, "I'm going to be as big if not bigger than Michael Jackson" shit. If this is the case then he'll become a plastic white woman messing with children in 20 years too.

Kayne West: This fool has had ONE album out and yet he acts like he's the messiah or something. Maybe that Jesus Walks song has gotten to his head in the wrong way. The Bible does say Pride comes before a fall.

Ashlee Simpson: She deserves all of the shit (SNL and Orange Bowl) that she's gotten. She's nothing but a phony and the fact that so many kids are digging this totally irks me. How can she sit there and call herself rock and claim that she's nothing like her sister but then find herself on the cover of Cosmo and Allure, the same mags her sister is on all the time? Who does she think she's fooling? She sure hasn't fooled me.

There's more and when I think of any, I'll be back.

You've read my mind. Destiny Fulfiled was hot garbage and their stuff is shit now. I can't turn on the radio without hearing "Soldier" or "Lose My Breath" somewhere in the day and those songs are 2nd rate material for them. I loved Writing on the Wall and I like some of Survivor but they need to stay solo acts.

Number one on my list has always been and will always be little miss goodie two shoes herself, Whiteny Houston. They should put a picture of her in the dictionary next to the word "sellout".

She may have not been the first to do weak, watered down R&B for mass pop appeal, but she was the first to be so successful at it that everyone else would follow her lead. She opened the floodgates for tons of future weak artists that wouldn't have one uptempo song on their album and if there was one, it would be so watered down for pop appeal that it wasn't funky at all. In the late 1980s, when the majority of R&B artists were following her lead, this left a void from where funk used to be. Rap and hip hop, which was uptempo at the time, filled this void. Then gangsta rap came along and slowed the tempo of rap and hip hop down. I think if she had not been so successful at being a sellout, others would not have been influenced by her and we might still have some jams today.

I also never could stand her little goodie two shoes, sweet, wholesome, girl next door image. She was the black Debbie Boone of the music business. I like strong, hard jamming, hard rocking women with minds of their own. She let her producers tell her "Whitney, tone it down. You're coming across too black. You want a hit don't you?" Then she got with Bobby Brown and let him control the shots. Then she got on drugs at a time when everyone else was abandoning drugs. Once again, little miss goodie two shoes was late. Actually, if she had been on drugs in the 1980s when the other artists were, maybe she could have jammed with the rest of them. lol

The thing that really pisses me off is she has a great voice. The bitch can sing her ass off but she sings weak, watered down ass shit. She could have been a great artist with the right material, but she never had a mind of her own.

Wow, you have a great point about R & B acts following that trend. There are too many acts that don't have any uptempo songs on their albums and it needs to stop.

Actually, I was being easy on her. I've been known to be much rougher on her on one of my good days. lol

You might as well put Lionel Ritchie's name in that post too,,,coz the brotha was a sell-out too(musicaly).

I have no problem with Lionel. He was a part of The Commodores who not only put out ballads but also put out hardcore funk. As for his sellout days, it's a damn shame that he went from doing stuff like he did with The Commodores to what he later started doing. Some of his solo stuff, I can tolerate and even like. Most other artists of the day were still throwing down hard even if he wasn't any more though.

My biggest problem with Whitney is her timing and her influence. She started from day one doing weak pop and became very successful. Many artists during this time followed her lead and hardcore funk and R&B soon became extinct. She also became a major influence for stars that came out in the decade that followed, the 1990s.

Actually, you are absolutely correct. Maybe "sellout" isn't the word to use for her. She did come out from day one as the weak little pop/R&B singer that she is and she always stayed true to it. lol

justin timberlake- i had an unhealthy hatred of the boy before the super bowl nipplegate because i feel like he personifies everything about middle class suburbia ripping off black culture that i absolutely hate. As Chris Rock once said "black man do something, make a little bit of money. White man do the same thing, make a whole lot more." plus he can't sing. I use to work at the Gap and they would play his songs and even before i knew it was him i would think "who is this guy singing off-key?" plus he seems like the type of white boy who feels like he's so "down" that it would be ok for him to say "nigga" and not care that some of us would have a HUGE problem w/that.

Joss Stone-see above. plainly put, white girl who wants to sound black. I can't stand the way people gush over how wonderful her voice is. it's not that great. i can hear her staining.

Maroon Five-once again see above.

Good Charlotte-those bitches just annoy me.

Coldplay-biggest Radiohead rip off ever. I don't understand why people like this band.

John "yawn" Mayor-all of his songs sound the same. if he didn't annoy me so much, he could cure my insomnia.

Nora "Bore-a" Jones-see above

Avril "awful" Lavine-somebody please shut her up.

Britney Spears-she can't sing and she doesn't even know it. I wish she'd go

Eminem-Homophobia, racism and misogyny all in one neat little package. Not only that but isn't he ridiculously rich now? what is he complaining about?

50 Cent-Ugg

JLo- this can be said about britney too but YOU HAVE NO TALENT!!!!

Beyonce'-can someone please tell her not to talk. she is embarrassing.

Eveanessence-that girl is a tori amos rip off. i just don't get it

Alanis Morrisette-I actually loved her first album, but I was 16. Dear Alanis, not every list you ever made is a song.

The Black Eyed Peas-I know people got bills to pay, but damn, did they really have to sink that low?

Ashlee Simpson-WHY DOES SHE STILL HAVE A CAREER?!?!?!?!?!

Mariah Carey-she wasn't black until it was good for her career. I have no respect for people like that.

Alicia Keys-i don't really dislike her all that much, but i just don't get the hype.

that's all i can think of now. it's late, but maybe tomorrow i'll come up with some more.

I honestly dont agree with this statement at all.. Honestly, has anyone viewed RHeads music as a whole? Its a growing developmental style music, and not one album has stayed the same.. How the fuck can one summarize Radiohead by The Bends? Big fucking deal, great record but damn... What about Kid A? Possibly one of the greatest albums of this decade, let alone radiohead.. Amnesiac? Another amazing moment, same era and beautifully different..

My point? Coldplay sounds nothing like them..
Yes, their a brit group
Yes, they came up right behind Radiohead
Yes, their music resembles the writing styles of a few songs on The Bends

Has coldplay dived into the electronic scene cause radiohead has? no, and Coldplays music isn't as edgy or politically exposed

so enouch of this shit talk about chris martin and thom yorke

I have to ask myself if anyone of these people who claim they sound alike has even listened to one album by coldplay, and any fuckin album by radiohead...

If anything, Coldplay has rendered themselves in a category of timeless music.. their gonna follow in the steps of making a better record than the previous.. and trust me, they arent scaling the roads of Radiohead.. I love radiohead, but these two are on different paths and taking on different tasks...

actually, i have listened to Coldplay before. and when i listened to them, i didn't even know that people where comparing thom and gwen's husband to each other. I actually wanted to like them. the first thought that popped into my head the first time i heard them was actually "they sound like a watered down version of Travis being sung by dave matthews" and travis, as much as i like them, is what i think radiohead would have been had they not gone to college and gotten all educated. meaning travis's melodies are simpler, as are their lyrics, which at times can boarder on trite, but there's a beauty and honesty to it that i feel like Coldplay, as desperately as they want to, don't have. i got through 6 songs before i turned off the Coldplay album I was listening to and that was being generous. so basically, to me, coldplay is a rip off of a rip off. travis did it much better because they weren't trying to be all pretentious and educated about it.

If anything, Coldplay has rendered themselves in a category of timeless music.. their gonna follow in the steps of making a better record than the previous.. and trust me, they arent scaling the roads of Radiohead.. I love radiohead, but these two are on different paths and taking on different tasks...
timeless music? you really think coldplay's gonna last? you're entitled to your opinion, as i am to mine, which is Coldplay fucking sucks. and gwen's husband annoy's the shit out of me.

Good Charlotte, Sum 41, Avril Lavigne, Ashlee Simpson and all those other faux-punk acts. On the other hand, I've only heard one song by Billy Talent "The River Below" and I actually liked it, so.... shrug

Usher Arrogant fucker pisses me off. It's funny, isn't it? When Prince is a narcissistic little bitch, no one seems to mind at all. (Granted, he usually deserves to be full of himself, but that's not the point)

Justin fucking Timberlake Never had anything against *N SYNC as a group. And hell, I like Backstreet Boys. But if I have to see Timberlake on the cover of one more magazine, or hear one of his "songs" one more time, I may shoot someone.

As for a more "classic" act: Beach Boys. Don't know why. They just irritate the hell out of me. Could never understand why they were so popular. I do like at least one of their songs though. nod

I don't have a strong hatred towards any artist in particular. There are some groups I think are overrated, but all in all I think I do a good job of avoiding music that I won't like.

That said, I heard a song by this local band on the radio a while ago that sucked so hard I popped a rage rod. Once I figure out their name, I will repeal the entire first paragraph of my post.

In her defense,Whitney does have her share of genuinely soulful songs...

"You Give Good Love" (1985)
"Thinking About You" (1985)
"Just The Lonely Talking Again"(1987)
"Saving All My Love For You" (1985)
"Why Does It Hurt So Bad" (1995)
"It's Not Right,But It's Okay"(1998)

But yeah, most of her songs are watered down, and are considered more "pop" than R&B.

Black folks on the other hand didn't approve of her from the jump street, and it got even worse when she married a white man(like it neva happend b4).

hmm,
I seem to recall when asked about any qualms about interracial marriage, Tommy Mottola seemed to down play her African American heritage. Then she seemed to "whitewash" her racial features, her hair she straightened, and lightened. She finally looked more white than black. Not saying that obviously African Americans haven't done the same (Lil' Kim, Mary J to name a couple).

But after her marriage ended, Mariah went from being a nice girl with a great voice to being a thugged out skeetzer. no no no! not good!

Bjork

Take away Nellee Hooper's production on her Debut album and what would you be left with? If Bjork sat next to you on a bus and started wittering aimlessly about throwing cutlery off the top of a mountain, you would quickly move seats. Instead, she records her atonal caterwauling with a string quartet and it's "art". Pur-lease!

GOLD STAR FOR YOU!!!! biggrin

solo Bjork makes my hair hurt. (Although, I really liked the Sugarcubes, I admit.)
