New Janet single this summer??

Janet maybe releasing a new single this summer called "Get Down" from her new cd which is still being worked on. Sources say it was produced by Dr. Dre according to Flytetyme.com. I can't wait to hear it. biggrin

The single is listed in the TBA section at this link.

Please. That mofo said he wouldn't work with Madonna because she's "too pop". What is Janet, the new queen of hip-hop soul? Maybe you have to act black like Eminem to get his attention.

Considering "Rich Girl", which is basically a cover of a song from "Fiddler On the Roof", I don't see high hopes for this but then again, you can't trust this info just because summer is so many months away and things change. I really hope she hooks up with the "All Nite" guys again and not just R&B/Hip-hop producers.

"Too pop" was a politically correct way of saying "no white b*tches". Don't shoot me, I'm just the translator.

why would this info be on Jimmy & Terry's site, if it's produced by Dr. Dre?

but anyway, i went to that site, and it's a message board user there that posted the item. the news section of the site hasn't been updated since April of last year.

That's not what he said. At the time, he said his focus was on new artists and that he wasn't interested in working with an already established artist.

I think Mary J. Blige is pretty established.

This was 1994 that he said this. He didn't work with Mary J. until many years later.

What the hell are you talking about? You mentioned him not wanting to work with Madonna - that would have been eleven (not ten) years ago, in 1994, when asked why he didn't want to work with Madonna on Bedtime Story. He said it was because he wasn't interested in working with established artists at the moment. Unless Madonna's approached him again, I don't think you do know what you read.

disbelief Don't get pissy with me because I pointed out something to you. If you don't know how to discuss something without throwing a fit, perhaps you need to move along.

I don't DISCUSS things by calling someone's knowledge into question without proof that they're stupid or lying. I know what I know, and if you doubted it you should have ASKED for further explanation. That's why you got pissed on. And don't count on me going anywhere.

Janet's my favorite next to MJ and Prince but "Get Down (If It Hurts Ya)"? "She can still feel sexy and express herself in her late 30's", my ass. She's approaching 40 and baby-making songs of hers are well-worn by now, anyway. "All For You" and "Damita Jo" were almost complete jokes, in my opinion.

I think Dre and Janet would be hot!! Dre and Madonna would not, Dre is very selective about established artists that he works with, the urban community love Janet, they however do not feel the same about madonna, to them she's the crazy white women who loves showing off her snatch.

It can be explained by the fact that people are starting to care less and less about Dr. Dre! How long has he been working on his latest album? And the funny Eminem tracks are starting to even make the public question what the fuck they are listening to.

Stepping away from Madonna, is doing modern R&B a good idea considering the Kayne tracks on "Damita Jo" where the weakest ones? Not to mention Rockwilder didn't excatly help "All For You" that much. Her one off tracks with hot R*B producers might give her some urban streeet cred but they are much weaker than the songs that she puts on her CDs ("Boyfriend/Girlfriend"?). I think Janet should go into a more pop dance direction, since that was the strongest stuff on "Damita Jo".

I prefer hip hop Janet, I think "My baby" with kanye was one the better tracks from damita jo, I'm more than certain Janet will go more towards hip hop/dance music, if she wants to get back on the radio anyway

If she wants to get back on the radio, fine but if she wants to give her fans a record that they'll love, she'll hook up with the "All Nite" guys again.

nod I really don't want a record full of hip-hop cliches. Mariah Carey has already traveled down that path. Janet is known for her dance/funk songs and it would be a shame if she released a turgid rap-infested album.

both of those will drive me away even further. All Nite is a decent enough song, but i'd only lift it up to "good" status because it's drowning on an album of crap.

on a good janet album, All Nite would be the worst song on there. it's really nothing special to me. pleasant enough to listen to, but just another light dance number.

I think you just being bias, u obviously don't like hip hop, doesn't mean it's not valid. Janet will always move with times and those POP songs she use to do were hot then. Dre and Hip Hop are soo hot right now! She can't keep pleasing a few fans that are nostalgic for 80's Janet. 2005 will be "Ghetto Janet" Janet getting down with Dre and Snoop in a escalade, with her thug b/f JD.
biggrin
"Got till it's gone" was hip hop and is probably her best track

Dre has said "NO" to Michael and Madonna which he said in an interview he said he would rather produce new artists or work with establish artist who truly love what his doing, Madonna just a wants hit. He would lose so much credibility if he worked with her and probably vice versa, but a Janet duet would be a boost to him as she's seen as urban superstar.
Anyway we saw what happened last time Madonna worked with a rapper "Vanilla Ice" confused not exactly an eye of someone who has real love for hip hop

No, don't get me wrong. I loved 'Got Til It's Gone'. I like R&B/Hip Hop, but I really don't want to see Janet chasing trends. I fear that it's going to be one huge JD production that's going to sound so dated in a few years. Janet used to set the trends in mainstream pop.

Listen to 'Rich Girl' by Gwen and Dre. It's inane. Dre is no longer the groundbreaker circa '92 or '00.

I want SONGS behind Janet, not just a sample or a loop. I just hope she digs out Control, RN 1814, and Velvet Rope to remind herself how she can be both of the times and above the times at once.

That's far from fair, anyway. Madonna has since worked with Missy Elliott and Tupac. She decidedly didn't tap Vanilla Ice's "talents".
