23 long-lost drum tracks, possibly by John Bonham?

This guy thinks they might be: http://www.disndat.info/bonham/
(tracks apparently online only for a few days).

I'm not so sure.

Hang on...I'll check in at the Zeppelin site to see if anyone's found this already there and what they think. thumbs up!

I only listened to a really short one so far, because I have to leave soon and I don't have time right this moment. But now I'm getting excited. biggrin I consider myself a hardcore Zeppelin fan, but I'm no Bonham expert though. Meaning, that by just listening to a 13 second track, I can't tell yet. Maybe someone on the other site will know more than me.

Based on what can be heard in the background they do appear to be authentic drum tracks presumably taken from the multitrack tape. I haven't done a direct comparison with the original tracks yet though (and of course they may be from different takes anyway). Whatever they are they sound cool.

I think my sampler might be a bit busy for the next few days! wink

On further listening they are all obviously from the "In Through The Out Door" sessions which would suggest they are all from the same multitrack tape. So I give it a 99% authentic mark. The only doubt I have is whether someone would be crazy enough to learn all the drum parts exactly, get a sound like Bonham and play along to the record, carefully letting a small amount of the record bleed through the headphones to fool everyone. No-one is that mad are they eek

Yep. I asked at the Zeppelin site, and this is the answer I got about them:

"These are isolated Bonham tracks (outtakes) from the ITTOD studio sessions (circa late '78 and/or early '79). They have been available for a while elsewhere in a more complete form. Someone transfered them into mp3 format and the rest you know."
