Conor Oberst

Who has heard of this guy? Can anyone tell me something more about his music? He is getting good reviews.

I only heard Bright Eyes.

I know this won't help...but I'm just as curious. I think I'm just going to buy "I'm Awake, It's Morning" or "It's Morning, I'm Awake"- whatever it is. I hope I'm not dissappointed wink

I am listening to some radio performances right now...

I do not own any album by an artist with a voice like his....I normally go for female voices. So I have to get used to this...

I don't have a whole lot of female artists I enjoy, except Bjork- maybe Madonna, Janet Jackson, Kimya Dawson, Deelite...oh, I thought of some more: Lauren Hill, Saint Etienne, Erika Badu....hmm, but the male artists/vocalists I have too many to name.

With me it is the other way around.
Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Bjork, Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, Tori Amos. Just to name a few.

I do not think that many gifted R&B singers deliver songs that grow old nicely...

Nina Simone? I don't know much, but I love the song "Sinnerman"...and you just named a few more that I like lol I just don't have them (except for Bjork) in my music collection. I RESPECT them for their talent, I guess.

To me, respect always turns into wanting to own as much as I can...

Sure! I am getting you. I was talking about my own particular addiction.

hey, at least it's a healthy one...except on your bank account wink I am trying to build my CD collection up again. A guy who was helping me move once put one of my boxes of CDs in the back of his minivan & didn't secure the back door down- so the whole box fell out mad I swear it was at least $500 worth of music gone. Needless to say I was depressed for a while. At least most of what was lost is replaceable. I've had friends who've had their collections stolen that have been rarities and out of print cds neutral
