Calling all Duran Duran fans....hidden gem of an album!. Released in 1986, this album by a little known group called the stabilizers is a real find i reckon. All drum programmed, it is none the less like duran duran or a-ha mixed with a group like Mr Mister a bit. Hard to describe. Damn good album though. Apparantly the only single was the superb title track ("tyranny") and "one simple thing".....they only made one more appearance on "if looks could kill" soundtrack on a gorgeus pop/rock track called "maybe this time". Hunt 4 it..... [Edited 2/11/05 10:43am] [Edited 2/11/05 11:31am]

Stabilizers 'Tyranny', released 1986 on Columbia, rereleased 1990 as CD and Tape on Sony Track List: 1. Tyranny 2. (If I) Found Rome 3. I Don't Need The Pain 4. Now I Hear You 5. One Simple Thing 6. Underground 7. Does Your Love Lies Open? 8. Place To Hide 9. You Pull Me Down 10. Maybe This Time (not featured on the original release, Promo/Bonus?) Two young guys from Erie, Dave Christenson and Rich Nevens, recorded this little gem of Pop music in 1986. In a normal world, 'Tyranny' as well as the only single 'One Simple Thing' should have become major hits...but although many quite prominent musicians like John "J.R." Robinson and Robbie Buchanan - both worked for artists like Bryan Adams or George Benson - were involved in the making, this record was a commercial failure. With the exception of the few who bought the single at least ('One Simple Thing' peaked at #93 in 1987), the majority of the world missed a very good album which featured a good balance between American and European Pop in the styles of Mr Mister, A-ha and other popular artists of the mid-80s. The tracks itself hadn't offered something glamourous like Duran Duran nor did they featured anything inventive in a Depeche Mode-sense; nonetheless they were thoroughly entertaining and far away of being only "One-Hit-Wonder"-stuff. Christenson and Nevens had eventually quitted their career as musicians after realizing that the world was ignoring their output, even the rerelease of 'Tyranny' didn't made any greater waves. Too bad, since the album was very promising and is even today an example for well-produced Pop music. It´s up to you to hunt down this rarity at record conventions - I would strongly recommend to place 'Tyranny' on your want-list. Check out tracks like 'One Simple Thing', 'Tyranny' or '(If I) Found Rome' and you probably know why. I found 1 review for u.....hope it helps. I guess the cover might help I gave u on the first post might of helped too.....I was close on the duran duran thing (considering I don't Duran duran very well) [Edited 2/11/05 11:35am]

Thats why the thread included the words "duran duran" i suppose. I admit when i saw it in the record shop i thought it was Le Bon Bon too. Anyway it is rare of hell I imagine so keep an eye open.
