STYX new CD due April 5th Coming off 2003's Amazing UNDERRATED CD called "Cyclorama" Styx are returning with a New CD. The first track is I AM the WALRUS, which is available through their website as a Single and AMAZING video. Obviously its a Beatles cover, but well done. So far not much is known of the New CD except that once again, they are recording it as a Band in the studio, unlike the way they recorded in the 70's and 80's. The Lineup is the same as CYCLORAMA, with the addition of RICKY PHILLIPS on bass, who has played in Bad Company and Kansas. Universal just recently issued STYX's first 4 CDs from 1970-1974 on a Two disc set called the Complete Wooden Nickel sessions, these discs are PRE-Tommy Shaw, but i think what U hear in these CD's is the QUEEN sound, I have often called STYX the AMERICAN QUEEN. Brian May of QUEEN said the same thing, he said he looked up to them in the 70's and felt they were the band they wished they could share the stage with. He also gave TOMMY SHAW's version of SPREAD YOUR WINGS the highest praise, which he recorded on the Stone Cold Queen tribute CD.
Once again STYX are on the road, I think since 1996 they have toured every year with very short breaks. Once again proving if U can play "thats your social security". This would also be why PRINCE made twice as much as USHER and USHER sold 8 million more albums than PRINCE, hmmmm..... "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

haha, yes I liked me some Styx back in the days ..when I was a AT40 junkie listening to Casey Kasem every week on AM radio ..hey, in those pre-MTV days here in central Europe that was the ONLY source to hear music and information about new releases... apart from crappy Austrian radio
I have 2 or 3 older Styx albums, but I had no idea they still release new ones up to this date Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!
