This Beyonce hype is out of control.

http://www.biography.com/blackhistory/

That is the banner that The Biography Channel has displayed on their website in honor of Black History Month. Someone please explain why Beyonce Knowles is front and center on that collage. Don't get me wrong, I think that Beyonce is a talented and beautiful young lady, but there is absolutely no reason for her pic to be displayed so prominently on that banner, while MLK Jr and Frederick Douglas pics are off to the side. There have been so many black people that have been jailed, beaten, spit on, had dogs sicced on them, sprayed with water hoses and died for civil rights, but a pop artist that is mostly know for doing the booty bounce gets 'top billing' during black history month. mad

If you are as disgusted as I and others are click here:
HERE'S HOW TO CONTACT THEM!!!

It's rediculous to have her ass on that banner. I hope it means her music will be "history" soon.

she really hasn't done anything monumental to even grace a banner with such prominent historical fugures...now Aretha up there would be a different story.

No sh*t.

You could have one of these Apple 30" wide screen displays...

...and she still should be "out of frame" to the right.

And The Fresh Prince?

My God!!! That looks so pathetic. They could have done a better job in terms of entertainers.

Where's Duke, Ella, Sarah, Miles, Coltrane, Dizzy, any Motown artist , Ray Charles, Sidney Poitier?

I would have even excepted Denzel

Paul Robeson was the epitome of the 20th-century Renaissance man. He was an exceptional athlete, actor, singer, cultural scholar, author, and political activist. His talents made him a revered man of his time, yet his radical political beliefs all but erased him from popular history. Today, more than one hundred years after his birth, Robeson is just beginning to receive the credit he is due.

That is sad! I wrote a complaint but doubt it'll have any affect

I can think of a million people that mean more to Black History Month than

"Bayawnsay"! I guess they were trying to get a current famous face, but dag

even Janet would have been a step up confused
If you will, so will I

Now that just makes me bristle. Last time I checked Beyonce was shakin' that ass, not moving folks through an underground railroad.

Back in the day, you didn't see "pop stars" on black history calendars or those black history flash cards I loved so much as a kid (shout outs to Jan Matzeliger and Matthew Henson!).

Maybe the Biography Channel is trying to show how hip and aware it is or, maybe they're trying to appeal to a younger audience.

I agree. Even if they were just trying to be hip and wanted to include a present day pop star, they should have had her pic the same size as the others and off to the side. Instead, a blown up glamour pic of her was plastered front and center while Frederick Douglas and MLK pics are off to the side.
