SHARON JONES and the Dap-Kings

Any fan of old-school soul or R&B has got to buy this record:

FILE UNDER: RAW FUNK & SOUL

I heard it for the first time today and picked it up immediately. It's totally authentic - horns, singable choruses, and a tight, I mean tight band. They have mp3 clips up at the site: http://www.daptonerecords...LP-CD.html
When the sunlight strikes raindrops in the air, they act as a prism and form a rainbow. The rainbow is a division of white light into many beautiful colors. Regardless of the day, I'm glad you were born.

Yeah it sounds raw like some funk recorded in the late `60s, and I appreciate their interpretation of "What Have You Done For Me Lately".

Anyone who likes James Brown basically should check out this album.

I've not heard before, but I wanna hear more. smile They're going to be at the 400 Bar here in Minneapolis on Wednesday. I'm gonna have to make a friend or two so I don't have to go alone.

They seem to have some pretty good songs available as 45s. But that's pretty lame considering that they aren't on cd, and it isn't 1965.
