For the longest time, I had no idea there was a video for this song. But then I was at a friend's house a few years ago, and we were watching some MJ videos. This one surprised me. The video's OK, but nothing special. For those that have never seen it, it's just a whole bunch of celebs du jour on a film set wondering where the star is. As it turns out, he's behind the camera. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

This is a great song and one of MJ's most sampled compositions.
Does anyone notice how brown his skin is in this photo?

This is not the Invincible tribute thread [Edited 2/11/05 11:42am] I know. If it was we'd have at least four ballads instantly better than Liberian Girl!

I admit the production is nice, with what then would of been very advanced technoledgy wise 9how many tracks sound like "liberian girl"?) but still..... To me, my fav MJ ballad is "for all time"...even better then "human nature". "for all time" has such an innocent wide eyed quiet charm. It is not overproduced like "liberian girl" is. "for all time" remained unfinished as the middle 8 has not got complete vocals.

This is not the Invincible tribute thread Apart from 1 or 2 songs on that album..it was pure shit! I tried to like that album. I really did. But it was BORING. Buying it for 5 dollars brand new help soften the blow. I don't know...maybe I'll give it another chance.

"I wrote this song in my GIVING TREE about all of the children of the world Your love is magical, that's how I feel But I have not the words here to explain Gone is the grace for expressions of passion But there are worlds and worlds of ways to explain To tell you how I feel But I am speechless, speechless That's how you make me feel Though I'm with you I am far away and nothing is for real When I'm with you I am lost for words, I don't know what to say My head's spinning like a carousel, so silently I pray Helpless and hopeless, that's how I feel inside Nothing's real, but all is possible if God is on my side When I'm with you I am in the light where I cannot be found It's as though I am standing in the place called Hallowed Ground Speechless, speechless, that's how you make me feel Though I'm with you I am far away and nothing is for real I'll go anywhere and do anything just to touch your face There's no mountain high I cannot climb I'm humbled in your grace Speechless, speechless, that's how you make me feel Though I'm with you I am lost for words and nothing is for real Speechless, speechless, that's how you make me feel Though I'm with you I am far away, and nothing is for real Speechless, speechless, that's how you make me feel Though I'm with you I am lost for words and nothing is for real SpeechlessYour love is magical, that's how I feel But in your presence I am lost for words Words like, "I love you." Thanks to all of the children in the world, my true inspiration We pray for our fathers, pray for our mothers Wishing our families well We sing songs for the wishing, of those who are kissing But not for the missing [CHORUS 1] So this one’s for all the lost children This one’s for all the lost children This one’s for all the lost children, wishing them well And wishing them home When you sit there addressing, counting your blessings Biding your time When you lay me down sleeping and my heart is weeping Because I’m keeping a place [CHORUS 2] For all the lost children This is for all the lost children This one’s for all the lost children, wishing them well And wishing them home Home with their fathers, Snug close and warm, loving their mothers I see the door simply wide open But no one can find thee [CHORUS 3] So pray for all the lost children Let’s pray for all the lost children Just think of all the lost children, wishing them well This is for all the lost children This one’s for all the lost children Just think of all the lost children Wishing them well, and wishing them home Thanks to all of my fans, you truly are my life Once all alone I was lost in a world of strangers No one to trust On my own, I was lonely You suddenly appeared It was cloudy before but now it?s clear You took away the fear You brought me back to life [CHORUS] You are the sun You make me shine Or more like the stars That twinkle at night You are the moon That glows in my heart You?re my daytime my nighttime My world You?re my life Now I wake up everyday With this smile upon my face No more tears, no more pain ?Cause you love me You help me understand That love is the answer to all that I am And I?m a better man You taught me by sharing your live [CHORUS] You gave me strength When I wasn?t strong You gave me hope when all hope is lost You opened my eyes when I couldn?t see Love was always here waiting for me Thanks to R. Kelly for writing this GORGEOUS song for me Somebody shakes when the wind blows Somebody's missing a friend, hold on Somebody's lacking a hero And they have not a clue When it's all gonna end [VERSE 2] Stories buried and unfold Someone is hiding the truth, hold on When will this mystery unfold And will the sun ever shine In the blind man's eyes when he cries? [CHORUS] You can change the world (I can't do it by myself) You can touch the sky (Gonna take somebody's help) You're the chosen one (I'm gonna need some kind of sign) If we all cry at the same time tonight [VERSE 3] People laugh when they're feelin sad Someone is taking a life, hold on Respect to believe in your dreams Tell me where were you when your children cried last night? [VERSE 4] Faces fill with madness Miracles unheard of, hold on Faith is found in the winds All we have to do Is reach for the truth [CHORUS] And when that flag blows There'll be no more wars And when all calls I will answer all your prayers [CHORUS x3] Change the world Yeah, Invincible definitely had better ballads than Liberian Girl I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Yeah, I hated "Invincible". Pitiful attempt to re-connect to the modern pop scene and who wants to hear an eccentric, middle-aged, androgynous musical legend who fell from grace years ago and is currently on trial for child molestation charges sing stuff like:
"Hold my hand, feel the touch of your body cling to mine You and me, makin' love all the way through another night" "Hold my hand, feel the sweat, yes, you've got me nervous yet Let me groove, let me soothe, let me take you on a cruise" Now as for "Liberian Girl"... love it. In fact, with the exceptions of the throwaway "Just Good Friends" and the schmaltzy-as-hell "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", I adore the entire Bad album. Less organic than its predecessors but far more artistically accomplished and diverse and the first record in history to have scored five #1 hits. Plus, how can you deny Quincy Jones still being at the helm? All Michael's done since he fired him is chase trends (Teddy Riley and New Jack Swing were already popularized by Guy, Blackstreet, Keith Sweat, Bobby Brown, etc. (Dangerous), Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were his own sister's producers for a nine-year run at the time (HIStory), and Invincible speaks for itself).

I agree with you on Invincible. however I think Quincy's biggest involvment on the Bad album was help Michael to choose the tracklist. Quincy himself said producr's main job is to choose the right tunes. Keep in mind 9 of the 11 tracks on Bad is penned by Michael. Yes, half of Dangerous album is New Jack, but Michael was writing and producing with Teddy. Still, the other half is classic Michael better than ever with songs like Who Is It, Give Into Me, Will You Be There etc. And Jam and Lewis was only involved with 3 of the songs on HIStory ofcourse Michael wrote and produced with them, yet again the best material on the album is Michael's own compositions and productions. Actually Micheal doesnt go and look for producers, most of those guys come to him. Well let's hope when the trial is over and if he's found innocent, he does an album that is up to his standars

This is slightly off the conversation BUT
There was a certain (inglorious I must add) time in my life when I strongly believed this track is entitled LIBRARIAN GIRL.... I even had this vision of a music viedo to accopmany it...naturally I thought the music was made so smooth and calm because (YES, YOU'RE RIGHT) the video was taking place in a public library. I had to take it off my chest. Maybe one day I shall be forgiven. I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

But ENOUGH about Thriller....Liberian Girl was a nice song, cute video and a cool vibe thrown thru the song. I heard it sampled a time or 2. Most noteably by Xscape I believe. Nah, Human Nature is his SECOND best slow jam. His first is Lady In My Life, fo' sho'!!!!
