How many 80's artists are still around???? When someone asks you "What kind of music do you like???" You can say "Funk, Rock, Disco, Ballads, Folk, Rap and I can't number all the styles that share space nowadays. But I do remember that many shared the scene back in the 80's...
Some of us just say "I like this, that and the 80's music." I don't know what happened at that time but everything was in fashion. Many artists saw their start then... How many are still around?? Name 5: Prince Madonna Annie Lennox Sting Michael Jackson... Who else????? "America is a continent..."

Prince, Teena Marie, Michael Jackson started in the 70's..... The Temps, Chi Lites, Isley's, O'jays, Smokey all in 60's... The topic was 80's stars. The topic sure was "80s Stars". These people may have started in another decade, but they either became stars or contiinued being stars and making music and hits in the 1980s. Teena Marie: Behind The Groove - 1980 Square Biz - 1981 Portuguese Love - 1981 Lovergirl - 1984 The Temptations: Standing On The Top - 1982 Treat Her Like A Lady - 1984 The Chi-Lites: Hot On A Thing - 1981 Bottoms Up - 1983 The Isley Brothers: Go All The Way - 1980 Here We Go Again - 1980 Hurry Up And Wait - 1981 Don't Let Up - 1981 Party Night - 1981 Who Said - 1981 The Real Deal - 1982 The O'Jays: I Just Want To Satisfy - 1982 Your Body's Here With Me - 1982 Smokey Robinson: Being With You - 1980 You Are Forever - 1980 Who's Sad - 1980 I've Made Love To You A Thousand Times - 1982 As far as Prince and Michael Jackson goes, the mere mention of the word "1980s" could not be said without following it with the words "Prince" and "Michael Jackson". Andy is a four letter word.

So what is the criteria of the topic? If it's just that they were around in the 80's till today, then you have a much longer list.... Rolling Stones, Elton John, Cher....Or is it that they hit the big time in the 80's... that would narrow the field down some.... I took tritoncin's meaning as being people who got their START in the 80's who are still here... that pares the list even further!

Prince, Janet Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Cher, Elton John, George Michael, Guns n' Roses, Michael Jackson, U2, Bon Jovi, Heavy D, Run DMC, Mariah Carey, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand, Concrete Blonde, Van Halen, Chaka Chan, Morris Day and the Time, Blondie, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Smokey Robinson, Paul Simon, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Lional Richie, Boy George, Lional Richie, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, AND WHITNEY HOUSTON! All had hits in the 80s that I remember and seem to be sticking around doing concerts, albums, movies, or all of the above today. Although most of them are not as popular as they were back then. I'd also like to point out PRINCE is the only 80s star today nominated for a TON of Grammy's! HoLLa! Old school baby.
